ogladio
Need a caseback for a gen 1.7 mil 1675 midcase. Any advice on an aftermarket caseback that A ) fits and B ) is fairly low budget? Thanks!

ogladio
Thanks, I'll stay away from mq then. Would be nice to also avoid Phong... There's a gen "almost" period correct (1968) caseback for sale locally for around $500 - but want to save $$$ now
lukenorris2011
The problem is, whilst MQ and PHONG are the only two supplying the higher end stuff, they think they have you by the nuts. Until I/we stop buying their products or somebody from the forum has access to higher end machinery and can produce this stuff they will continue financially exploiting and not giving a s**t. ceejay
I am using the Rafflestime millsub, http://www.rafflestime.com/servlet/the-1081/Milsub-Watch-Case-Back/Detail No engravings but cheap and accurate.
lionsandtigers
chrono-sh*p.n*t has a few, decent prices, dont put an aftermarket caseback on a gen case
ogladio
I am using the Rafflestime millsub, http://www.rafflestime.com/servlet/the-1081/Milsub-Watch-Case-Back/Detail No engravings but cheap and accurate. Thanks! I'll try that. So you mean you're using it with a gen 1675 case? Just double checking chrono-sh*p.n*t has a few, decent prices, dont put an aftermarket caseback on a gen case Have never seen anything decently priced from the frenchman and when I chatted with him last week he didn't have anything engraved II-IV 67. Note: he does have one listed at 195 euros, but he was transparent with it being totally bust and would not screw on a case (would need full rework/threading, which I unfortunately don't know how to do). So summarized, right now I'm sure as heck putting a rep caseback on - if I can find one that fits. What forum were we on now again..?

ceejay
I am using the cartel 1655 case, it takes gen parts. Rafflestime parts are gen spec also and they go together just fine.
ogladio
I've seen someone in another thread mention that the stock "josh 1:1 1655" caseback screws on, but not perfectly on a gen case. Worth a shot.
AsiadeCuba
how about ingodd44? i saw a casback for a 1655 for about 250? worth a shot
ceejay
1655 case backs are bubble backed, the 1675 is flat backed like the mill sub on rafflestime I referenced to Edited February 6, 2014 by ceejay
ogladio
Yes, meant that Raffles is worth a shot. Will order shortly and update here after. Thanks everyone!
automatico
A genuine 1675 case back is 35.45 to 35.5mm in overall diameter...4.4mm thick +/- a hair or two depending on wear...and the threads in the case back are 30.20mm in diameter. This might help finding one. When buying genuine, watch out for corrosion. Lot of junk out there.
Seacraft
Search for a gen 16750 case back - these are common replacements on rotted 1675 cases and can be found cheaper than a 1675 case. Later when you stumble on a 1675 caseback you can get your money back on the 16750
ogladio
Really great info automatico and Seacraft! Yes, was looking into a 16750 too as they're often better condition - when the bank account looks better I might go after one
Gngn
Just as a thought and in case you like it, there are good quality sapphire case backs out there: http://www.customwatchconcepts.com/product_info.php?products_id=
