The (summer) Blue Steel Submariner

Recommended Posts

It says it's a "Summer Blue Special Ed". I have tried to google and search forums for more info about this special ed, but can't find any references anywhere (And the Rolex.Com messes up my browser totally - no help there....) The TT with blue dial seems to be the popular ones! ;)

Still manufactured or a very limited numbers of watches? "Special edition" when?

Thanks for the help.

I will pass on this model. No one would believe that I am wearing a rare collectors model.

Don't know if it's some sort of strategic decision, but since they already do the TT with blue dial, I do not really understand why it is not produced in pure steel and blue? Bright blue and steel is a perfect combination and VERY classy!

A little more colour would not be that bad: The LV would e.g. look absolutely great with a matching dark green dial and I can admit that I am a bit fond of the red combination in the Colamariner, too (which I also have understood is a fantasy watch!) :)

I agree, the blue/stainless is a beautiful combination. I have owned two of these. Unfortunately, they were both pieces of junk and neither is in existence today. One flew off my wrist and down a flight of concrete stairs when a bracelet screw came out and the crown fell off the dial of the other just before the stem broke on the asian movement.

The blue on steel was made as stated in the prior posts in a limited number for the Asian market, how ever the dial was completely different than the one pictured on Perfect Clone. The dial has indices for hour markers the are like no other Rolex I've ever seen, the metal part was the bulk of the indice with a very small lume dot in the center, once you seen it you instantly know that the traditional marker is nothing like the one in the blue model. I did have a link to a picture of it, if I can find the link, I'll post a picture so everyone can see the difference.

That said, its still a beautiful watch, if you like it, buy it, fooling people is not what its about, at least not for me, I just enjoy each watch for what it is.

Just look at the pictures of the color blue in the O in Rolex. It's slightly lighter. Annoying!

I bought the Colamariner, which is the only Rolex I have, and I love it.

People always front me and ask about the watch.

- Real or fake?

My answer is always why do you think it's a fake, and can you point out the flaws?

*LMAO*

WOW, that’s really beautiful! Reminds me of the SS & blue Tudor Subs, which Rolex did produce.

Rolex produced some GMTs with a black dial and fully blue bezel insert for the Argentine AF a while back.

A black dialed sub w/blue ring I think can look cool too. And believable, as you can claim you just used the bezel from a Tudor.

Thats because of the photoediting software Joshua uses, you'll see in the rest of the pics, the dial colour is fine and consistent throughout

It's over-eager use of the magic wand to select the dial. Not the way you should be tinting the dial...
