JaFeel Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 Hello Chaps Im about to order a NOOB submariner v4 ceramic and the options for movements are Asian ETA 2836 Asian 3135 Swiss ETA 2836 Now I'm not really interested in the 3135, but the price difference between the swiss and the asian ETA is $180, I'm buying the watch as a gift for my father so reliability is the most important thing for me, I know the Asian vs Swiss thing has been discussed a lot and I am leaning towards the Asian based on the info I have found, but the seller has said "its a brand new genuine swiss movement from Switzerland" and for that price I would expect it to be, the seller is a trusted dealer so what I'm asking is, is it worth paying the extra? Apologies if this kind of question is getting old.......
DVNE Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 Buy asian clone and get it serviced before gifting. 1

Uberscreamer Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 Unless it specifically states that it is a brand new Swiss Sellita, there is no way to guarantee that the mech is going to be new (as Sellita is a relatively recent take on the ETA makes, so not enough time yet for there to be bulk used ones on the market). As such, if stated as Swiss ETA, I would go aETA like the guys said above, and get serviced before gifting. Should last a nice long time for him! 1
mjmj Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 As stated above Asian eta and spend the money for a service and it will be very reliable. 1
lukenorris2011 Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 Always go Asian. You will never know if 1. Yourl get swiss anyways, and or what condition it would be in. Buy it Asian, get the Asian serviced. And eventually buy your own swiss and have it fitted. Life's a [censored], then you marry one! 1

JaFeel Posted September 12, 2014 Author Report Posted September 12, 2014 As I suspected, I will go ahead and order the Asian movement, for me I will be going for a BK Sub with a Sellita, I have a Noob LMPO that I ordered with an Asian movement and apart from the rotor being a bit noisy it looks like a very good movement, gold in colour with the ETA stamp, still not sure if I got a Swiss ETA by mistake as all the other pics of the LMPO the movement has the silver looking movement
JaFeel Posted September 12, 2014 Author Report Posted September 12, 2014 I think I could of probably got the word "movement" in a few more times there....
