Megamanila Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Pulled the trigger on a PAM 127E Fiddy from Toro last week. Just received it. While the watch itself looks excellent, the movement inside is running at 18,000 bph instead of 21,600 bph. My understanding is that the genuine runs as 21,600 bph. Is that correct? Emailed Toro, and she said told me that it was never advertised as "high beat" (all the traces of the model have been removed from site so no way of checking at this point) and is in fact a hybrid with KW dial and JF movements. A little disappointed by the whole thing, so wondering if anyone on here ordered one and got a 21,600 bph version?
StormTooper4 Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Firstly where are the Pictures of your watch ? Secondly are you disappointed by the "Whole" watch ? or that beat rate ?
Megamanila Posted February 2, 2015 Author Report Posted February 2, 2015 Watch looks excellent but that beat rate is a deal breaker. I don't know of a single recently (post 2000) produced Panerai that has a 18,000 bph movement. Pics to follow.
astonjenks Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Either swap out the movement for a high beat or if you're unhappy, send me some pics and your price I may buy her from you. Regards AJ
StormTooper4 Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 I don't understand why this is a deal breaker , is there a visible thing that you can see Apparently There are two speeds available for the 6497/6498. The 6497-1 and 6498-1 are 18,000 bph. The 6497-2 and 6498-2 are 21,600 bph Although, technically, anything 18,000 bph or faster is considered "high beat." These are 18 http://www.ofrei.com/page_183.html And so are these http://calibercorner.com/tag/6497-1/ I reckon you need to go Gen

I actually have a spare 21,600 bph movement lying around somewhere, but not sure if I am skilled enough to be able to get it swapped out.
astonjenks Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Then get it to a friendly watchmaker who, for a price will service and fit the highbeat. AJ
asciwhite Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 ------- Luckily Pams are the easiest to work on. I would however concur with the others here. You can`t break this deal just because of that. Flip it here on the forum if you can`t live with it or change the movement.
ogladio Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 How does the JF bridge stampings look like - better/worse than on the Noob movement? At least for me that could be an easier tell than second hand sweep speed.
xpletiv Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 So, this 'Toro' you speak of, woman you say? Not that it matters, but I wouldn't want to be called something that I'm not. Or have I miss judged? I wouldn't want to address improperly.
torobravo Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 The 127 is permanently discontinued by the noob factory, you were lucky to get one of these
astonjenks Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Could you get another Toro, I dont care about the movement!
asciwhite Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 The 127 is permanently discontinued by the noob factory, you were lucky to get one of these See? You can sell it here on the forum if you don`t like it.

Teris Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 That crystal looks jacked. Exactly why I didn't jump on this one from Toro.
Legend Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 The crystal distortion is not the best.
Megamanila Posted February 5, 2015 Author Report Posted February 5, 2015 Decided to keep it in the end... 1
