watcher Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 http://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-Daytona-16520-Cas...1QQcmdZViewItem Very interesting!!!!
gioarmani Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 I'd buy that in a heartbeat if the movements weren't so much. Maybe one day.
docblackrock Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Hmmm, I'm no Daytona fan (or expert) but looks like a YM clasp to me? Also, what's the seller going on about Omega movts for? Wonder where the ZEP movt in the pics has 'gone'?
lionsandtigers Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 not sure who is selling it, but i am bidding on it, so if you'd all be so kind as to not try to outbid me, i would appreciate it
ubiquitous Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 It should be interesting to see what this one ends up at... 6 days is a lot of time
lionsandtigers Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 of course i have my limits, being that you and I both know where i can get this and at what price, but the gen tube and crown do boost the value a little, and save me a bit of headache
Defender110 Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 is the opinion a rep case or gen case.. seller only says gen. refin. dial + gen crown... nothing sid about case and bracelet. :-)
lionsandtigers Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 that case is a rep case, the dial is a gen refinish, the crown and tube gen, pushers rep, bracelet rep
docblackrock Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 is the opinion a rep case or gen case.. seller only says gen. refin. dial + gen crown... nothing sid about case and bracelet. :-) Thank you someone paying attention As I said, that bracelet (clasp) looks wrong. Add in the lack of clarification on the authenticity of the case plus the rather off-putting "FINAL SALE AS IS - NO RETURNS" and my sixth sense would make me give this a wide berth. But then maybe one of the Daytona freaks would be kind enough to educate? Was this the same model that TonTon snatched up a $3.5k franken of with EP movt earlier this week?
watcher Posted January 15, 2007 Author Report Posted January 15, 2007 I will bidding toward sthe end of the auction, sorry There is a kit out there that does have an aftermarket tube fitted like Helfands sell and I would imagine that all you see in the pics is a rep and not refinished as stated in the auction for reasons of not having it cancelled. I too will only go upto what I can buy the kit for elsewhere but it does include the crown and bracelet I suppose.
lionsandtigers Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 all i know is that is virtually the same as our favorite mbw provider is selling, which is a "el primero" kit. the case is definatly NOT gen. i'm assuming it came from him as well, but who the hell knows these days
watcher Posted January 15, 2007 Author Report Posted January 15, 2007 Sharpening the sword as we speak!!
lionsandtigers Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 haha, loading the pistols, cleaning the barrels, adjusting the sites......
lionsandtigers Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 i dunno randy, you might wanna turn away, its gonna get bloody hope you dont have a weak stomach.
thomasng Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 I'm going to snipe the auction. Bring it on boys.
lionsandtigers Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 there are going to be bodies all over the rwg :gun2:
ubiquitous Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 is the opinion a rep case or gen case.. seller only says gen. refin. dial + gen crown... nothing sid about case and bracelet. :-) Case is rep; bracelet is rep, but very well done (note the ref# and engravings, etc). Clasp is of the correct type and appearance (not a YM 16622 clasp- Those have the entire fliplock polished). Bezel is rep, pushers are rep, crown is gen, tube is aftermarket. Dial looks to be refinish on a genuine base (common and not hard to find in black). Crystal is rep. One thing you guys will have to find is a set of hands (the auction doesn't appear to include them). Those could set you back as much as $300 (that's what I paid for my last set of genuine hands). Good luck you guys! If I didn't already have two of these, I'd be out there with you bidding!
lionsandtigers Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 now why do ya neeeeeeed 2 randy????? lol
ubiquitous Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 now why do ya neeeeeeed 2 randy????? lol Well, I don't need two, per se... But having the choice between the black dial or white dial every morning is always fun
thomasng Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Well, I don't need two, per se... But having the choice between the black dial or white dial every morning is always fun It's a simple solution for me, I go Maradona style with Offshores everyday.

ubiquitous Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 It's a simple solution for me, I go Maradona style with Offshores everyday. I did that the first day I had both in hand... It was fun, but also got some funny looks from people in the office
