MatBat Posted December 27, 2020 Report Posted December 27, 2020 Hello, I found this case. How is it? I was planning to do a vintage franken with a raffles case, but I found this one. The seller says that is a Vietnam one.
freddy333 Posted December 28, 2020 Report Posted December 28, 2020 Rolex's "gents" watches are pretty plain-Jane, so it's all in the details & dimensions. It is impossible to make any judgements without knowing which model you want to assemble &/or without measuring that case to see if it matches the gen. What I can say is the case looks pretty beaten & the crystal looks a bit too tall. Once you know which model you are building, why not just buy a gen case? There are plenty of them floating around & they can often be had for reasonable prices in similar condition to the 1 in your pics. That way, you know gen parts will fit without much fiddling &, in the future, you have the option of swapping any rep parts for gens to end up with a total gen.
Mr Seamaster Posted December 28, 2020 Report Posted December 28, 2020 That looks more like a Day Date case.

I have a 1601 dial that is in poor condition, I was planning to build a fun project with a low budget. I’m trying to find a cheap case
automatico Posted December 28, 2020 Report Posted December 28, 2020 Agree with freddy333 and Mr Sm. It looks (to me) like a DD case from china. DD cases are 'partially hooded' like the one in your picture. "The seller says that is a Vietnam one." Never saw a Vn case with a green sticker on it...that's a chi 'trademark'. Maybe the mail plane flew over Vn. Replica Builder Rule 1: Learn More. Buy Le$$.
alligoat Posted December 30, 2020 Report Posted December 30, 2020 Lugholes on a DJ case went out around 1995- the 16220, etc models. And like was said above, it looks like a DD case in ss with the flat spot between the lugs and a plastic crystal. All DJs 1601, 16013/4 etc, had lugholes so this is just a bad Chinese copy
