Pugwash
hi, i was thinking of buying a gen pam (not sure what model), i was wondering if it would be cheaper to buy them in Italy? that it where there made? That would depend on the tax rate and all sorts of other factors. Also, you'd be evading tax on the way back in if you didn't declare it, but that would be a personal choice. I'd just do what Falco suggested and check out the Duty Free stores in the airports.
chris5264
I would avoid tax and about 20% and just buy a good used one. If I get another gen pam, it will be from one of the forums, just make sure the person has a good reputation and shouldn't be a problem.
Maikel
I've been thinking about this too. This is my plan, should I be in S'pore or Hong Kong I'll purchase the pam, send all the boxes and accesories by mail back home, wear my pam on the wrist when flying back...ask for a tax refund at the airport and mail the receipt back home before I'm in the plane. wheaton26
the best deals i have found are right here in the bahamas. the local ad automatically knocks 10% off the retail price and everything is tax free. it's very hard to find deals on panerai as the mark-up is very low compared to rolex etc. i added a genuine pam 091 to my collection last year. it was pre-owned and serviced by panerai before it was sold. i couldn't be happier! here is a shot of my 091 and my bros 220 ... Watchmeister
Most cost effective in the U.S. is not in the U.S. Paneristi or Timezone from well-known seller are good starting points. THe funny thing is I never knew where to buy a PAM in my hometown until I came upon Paneristi.
flavor flav
problem with pams is..... which one to get! i suggest buying used from timezone or paneristi so you can resell it for the same price or higher should you lust after a different model. resale is very high. deepsea
I'd like to ask a question... what happens under this situation: 1. if I buy a watch from airport tax free... 2. and if I put it on my wrist... what happens? I've never bought any watch from abroad, but I've gone abroad several times, no customs controled the watch on my wrist. nor anybody asked any questions about the watch on my wrist.
