When they were initially considering the design for the upcoming 188 and 196 they made prototypes with two contrast sub-dials. IMHO, much more interesting than the final production models. But now that you mention it the moving subdial hands are beginning to remind me of the windmills on the girls in the producers (original with Zero Mostel).
