Watch sales in the forum...

I think the fact that you see plenty 'bumps' followed by price drops on these overpriced pieces means the seller is learning the hard way without someone thread-crapping.

Often people are trying to lo-ball a deal by questioning price in public. Keep the ban on it in public - let the person do it in private, but then I doubt they will as they are usually not serious buyers.

That does make sense - I think it's often just the seller's ignorance on what the dealers are up to 12-18 months down the track, they may not know what the current score is. A friendly PM in the ear couldn't hurt.

Indeed - trade thread should be for seller offer and Q&A. Calling a sale price out in public could lead to some bad blood and bad precedent, even when justified.

If a piece sits unsold for a period of time - that speaks volumes on its own.

Selling counterfeit goods is illegal. I don't see how you could have missed that.

I'm sure if you try you can understand what I mean... free market works als well when you sell counterfeit... in fact, works well (or bad for others) in every business field...

Yes, but I wasn't talking about that. I was directly replying to your "Illegal? Why? Illegal is something that is done out of established laws, and free market I don't think is illegal" comment.

ps. Free markets don't work. Free Markets result in whoever has the most money wins. Slavery is a result of a free market, for instance.

No, it doesn't. There is no working example of a free market that has ever shown that.
Many examples... and many that shows that if you restrict market to fixed rules in terms of economy results are terrible (have a look to east europe markets

The whole point of this forum is to apply external help on trades. We're here to help people from getting scammed. IdealWatches gets customers. Fraudsters get customers, with reps sold as gens on eBay. We all stand together to stop this from happening, right? It's what we do.

You don't need a strong control like moving posts to "ghettos"... in the name of... who? Any of us have the possibility to post and advise... but again, what are yo proposing? If a member post for selling a sub and he asks 50 more usd than list price because he serviced the mov... would you move it to a "smell fish area"? mmm... this makes me remember old bad times back...

Conning and suckering isn't 'free market forces'.

Nobody meant it...

It's annoying when members post bone stock watches for sale for list or slightly above, but frankly there is a simple way to deal with that, which is to not buy from them. Anybody who has spent a week on this board can figure out they should check out Wo-Mart, Trusty and Perfect Clones to get an idea of prevailing prices. Anybody who hasn't spent a week on the board probably shouldn't be buying from individual members . . . I'm sorry if that sounds harsh but I would never have bought from another member in my formative months, and in general I'm still inclined not to except from members I know have been trading for the past couple of years. There have been members (some of them still here!) who talk a lot about their collection of gens and how they are the ivy-league educated scions of rich families and then deliver junk when they deliver at all . . .

Every now and then an MBW, heavily modded Pam or whatnot does pop up, and usually from the most respected members. $500 or not I'd jump all over those if I were in the same country as they. I don't mind paying a premium for nice pieces. It's the guys I've never heard of who ask $350 for their Tag Link Chronos I don't really connect with. I'm not saying they can't get it. I'm just saying not from me.

As far as shady mods go . . . I don't pay for mods other than the ones I know are worth it -- The Zigmeister lume and service, cannon pin, Palp crown, Jimmyfu CG. What other people think is worth their money is their call.

Good point... a safe way to save money. I think we are making things more complex than they are... let the people post their watches for sale... if any of us understand is too pricey, ask the seller by PM (as a courtesy) why and state reasons why you think is too expensive... and be very careful about what you say in public... be educated but precise... if you post in public that a member is selling a watch overpriced don't list personal reasons... at last, everybody pay what they want to pay... or are ready to pay... who cares? :)

I'm with Pugwash. Let socialism reign here. Than we can tell the dealers what to sell for?

.....In the meantime, we'll all have to pretend we're rich :thumbsupsmileyanim:
