solicitor Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 I'm growing weary and wary with all the problems associated with buying reps lately: how to make payments, customs crackdowns, inexplicably obvious flaws, misrepresentations, quality control, and the general anxiety about buying illegal goods. So, I just pulled the trigger on a BNIB Gen Planet Ocean, Ref. 2900.50.91. Paid an outstanding price=$1900.00USD, delivered. Arrives by Friday. Yeah, yeah, I know this is a Rep world, and I could have gotten seven "ultimate reps", but did I do good? Anyone understand and share my frustrations with reps?
bigpops Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 If i could buy one for $1900 USD in this country, i'd probably buy one myself - I have 4 Planet Ocean reps. Sadly, you're looking at about 50% more than that, even after a discount.
section8 Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 WOW, where did you find that deal? I want in on that!
RWG Technical Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 $4500 + 15% tax where I live... $1900 US, that's a great price, well worth it in my view. RG

RG Yeah, I looked at a black bezel PO recently and the sticker was $4400 - I didn't ask about discounts, but still that's quite a discount from $4400 to $1900.
b16a2 Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 You have indeed found yourself a bargain. I would jump on one for that price!
jomama Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 1900 is too good. How do you know it is real????? Why would anyone sell this at 1900?
solicitor Posted March 26, 2007 Author Report Posted March 26, 2007 Suffice it to say it was "grey market", so it wasn't as perfect a deal as say buying from an AD would have been. BTW, they're sold-out! If they weren't, I'd tell ya. As it is, I like getting first dibbs on these bargains. Sorry. I can't wait 'til it arrives on Friday. .
jomama Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Indenial. I am just jelous. What in . Where did you get it (Is this what BNIB is?)

Enjoy it (and don't forget to tell us where you got it )
r11co Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Well snagged! I like it when someone gets a bargain like this. The 45mm too! A good choice of watch if only as an investment. You could sell it in a year for what you paid! Enjoy it
Stephane Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Dear All, Congrats on your choice. It's a killer watch. Just to mention: 1.900 is great but 4.000 is way too much. There is one for 2.275 $ which bring it to around 2.275
Tim Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 (edited) Froggle is your friend in pricing all things! But I can save you a step. jomashop.com in NYC has consistantly the best grey market prices. You can sometimes find good deal at bernardwatch.com and watchseller.com. Zeetan is always a good bet too. /Tim Edited March 26, 2007 by Tim

solicitor Posted March 27, 2007 Author Report Posted March 27, 2007 I will definitely post some pics after it arrives....
Kollektor Posted March 28, 2007 Report Posted March 28, 2007 Awesome price for a great watch! For new gens, I found that authenticwatches.com has some very competitive prices. Still, don't see anything for near the deal you landed. Kudos and enjoy!
solicitor Posted April 3, 2007 Author Report Posted April 3, 2007 Deal fell through..."damaged" stock, the reason. Otherwise, sold-out (which was true). Damn. I am [censored] and a little embarrassed. Talk about "countin' chickens"!
nietzsche0904 Posted April 4, 2007 Report Posted April 4, 2007 Bracekt or rubber? Its not that astonishing as most ADs are willing to give you 30% and we aren't even talking about grey market.
solicitor Posted April 5, 2007 Author Report Posted April 5, 2007 Bracekt or rubber? Its not that astonishing as most ADs are willing to give you 30% and we aren't even talking about grey market. Rubber strap. The MSRP is USD$3,300.00, so it's over 40% off. That's pretty astonishing to me! Well, it WAS astonishing, anyway.
dvn Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 i think i can get a 2901.50.91 for 30% off from MSRP of $3200 and it is from an AD in Washington DC
