Nanuq
I was cruising TZ and saw photos where people had mounted a Tropic 68 on a vintage 1675 GMT, sans cyclops, and it looked GREAT. It sorta had hints of that 5513 Tropic 19 dome effect, but not as dramatic as the mighty Tropic 39 Superdome. Of course that goes without saying. NOTHING can compare to the formidable T39. Anyone with a WM GMT try this yet? I'd think a Tropic 68 would fit right up.
XRT
Can you post a pic or link? Sounds interesting.
eunomians
Seen this type of mod done for many years, too. Looks neato, but somehow the 1675 is made to have a cyclops. The dial and hand arrangement is busy as heck, the cyclops tames the busyness. I know this sounds weird, but it seems to be the case. The non-cyclops makes the dial/hands seem cluttered. I've tried the non-cyclops dome on mine, looks hot, but it doesn't get a cigar in my book. But hey, different strokes 4 diff folks.
By-Tor
That's the rare "pointy crown guards" version. Always thought it looked quite weird. Has that GMT hand been red a few decades ago or was it originally like that in this particular model?
