z3k0
OK, so I got my first rollie, noobmariner, and I of course I wanted to open it but my case opening tool (jaxa style) does not work - although it has pins that are supposed to open oyster cases... So I'm thinking about buying that tool that is made specifically for opening rollies. So, since I'm not really big rolex fan, and apart from sub, I might get SD and YM at some time - what is my least expensive option ? In most stores I saw complete sets with 6 or more dies, going for

Stephane
Hi Z3K0, By buying a cheap set you might discover that the dies is not very well finished and will scratch your case back. predfan2001
Try the method that has been mentioned here several times. It has worked everytime for me. Get a quality (3M autobody grade) masking tape. Make a ball a little smaller than a golf ball (with the sticky side out of course). Push it down on the case back flattening it out and adhering to the case back and unscrew. And the best part is NO tool marks. It may not work on every watch but I've had luck with it. I was actually pretty amazed. Edited May 29, 2007 by predfan2001
kingkitesurf
Yep the best method works like a charm. Rol a big ball of duck tape... with the sticky side on the outside. There you go... Opens Pam, Rollies and everything with a screwback.
Stephane
Thanks Stephane, I was just looking at this No5 die, at watch-tool.de and was wandering is it good size for Sub (and it would be even better if it's good size for modern SD and YM as well...) ? regards, Ivan Subs and SD yes, YM, sorry I have none. And the ball seems to be a great method id the case back isn't to tight. I will try this ball one of these days
freddy333
After messing around with suction handles, rubber balls and wads of tape with variable results, I finally broke down and got a proper LG Openall Case Opener. If you plan on working on watches, it is one of the best investments you can make.
