dalayclass Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 I want to launch a new brand, young, not very expensive, using swiss eta, you can change parts to customise your watch, the name has to be short and has to refer to what I have said concerning the model. I was thinking of something ending by "eo". I want your opinons. If you had to launch a brand, what name would you choose??? Best regards
Pugwash Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 I was thinking of something ending by "eo". I want your opinons. If you had to launch a brand, what name would you choose??? Romeo Starts like Rolex, ends in Eo and is young and timeless.
sim Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Reo ;-) That way you have a substantial amount of space on the dial to put lots of chronos and complications! You are aware that getting your hands on ETA ebauches after 2011 won't be easy. Namely, if you are not affiliated with the Swatch group, you probably won't get any, or they will shaft you on the price big time.

Seiko's new 28k movement?
sim Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Sure, but then, ETA shouldn't be part of the business plan, next to young and whatever else. Let's just say, quality movement. Do you think it it worth stocking up on ETA mvmnts before they close the pipe? By then, other options will be obvious. Selita? Seiko's new 28k movement?
jfreeman420 Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 How about RWGEO Or FreemanEO.................... I think Romeo is over used in too many items. REO sounds pretty good. Short and sweet watch names are the best. Also names that are acronyms or initials sound catchy. Also names that are spelled unphoenetically (if that's a word) like Xemex. How about Xeneo. BTW, how are you going about launching this new brand? Do you have plenty of money behind you?
diver_dylan Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 I got burned the last time I took part in helping a new watch company. Its a small company you all know...the owners initals are MK. I took the open challenge to design a new case/dial and submitted it with the promise of a free watch if my design was chosen. A year later my design was in production and no watch was given. He did offer me a 20% discount though...wow. I think I could come up with a good working brand for you, do you offer a first run production model in exchange? Thanks! D
Corgi Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 "REO" is already a name shared by many companies... you would have a bonanza of lawyers after you if your watch ever made it big. why on earth does it have to end in "EO" anyway? If I were you I would go with the patriotic angle, call it the "FREEDOM" or "PATRIOT" and give it a unique american twist. You could design watches after historical military operations or famous landmarks... Americans would buy that! I know I would! The symbol could be an eagle head... I see it now... with a flag-engraved caseback....
Pugwash Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Who uses REO already? I know OREO, but no REO REO Speedwagon?
diver_dylan Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 Brand: Columbus Diver model(s): Aquanometer or you could go by the names of his and other ships of the time.. ie THE SANTA MARIA. Possible caseback ideas: -> http://www.usmint.gov/kids/coinNews/columbusDay.cfm I win. Please send me the 1st one. D
Pugwash Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 I win. Please send me the 1st one. Why Americanise a European hero? You could call the line Crist
dkcambel Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 eieio and call it the old mcdonald special...
citabria72 Posted June 1, 2007 Report Posted June 1, 2007 eieio and call it the old mcdonald special... how about NuVo or Neuvo
KB Posted June 2, 2007 Report Posted June 2, 2007 Call it the Rodeo and your catch call could be "Get 'em for a couple of bucks" Ok I'll be leaving now Ken
archibald Posted June 2, 2007 Report Posted June 2, 2007 Call it the Rodeo and your catch call could be "Get 'em for a couple of bucks" Ok I'll be leaving now Ken I'm horrible at naming (just ask my kids), but I do have the best marketing/branding/design hook ever devised for a line of watches.
