pubus Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 i forgot.... i also by accident sent a pam caseback crystal in for double AR!!! if you need a REALLY CUSTOM pam............. :thumbsupsmileyanim:
Jumbie Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 Tell me where you live so I can come steal that VC. hehehe Looking really good. Will have to learn how to take a crystal out of a case one day so I can send it in for AR.
HauteHippie Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 i forgot.... i also by accident sent a pam caseback crystal in for double AR!!! if you need a REALLY CUSTOM pam............. Now that's funny. Maybe having double AR on the caseback crystal will tempt you to wear the watch upside down with the movement side facing out.
t Posted June 11, 2007 Report Posted June 11, 2007 is this the best available AR? ok than look AR on my swiss case... and this is not moded or overworked... it is standard AR from factory. what do you guys think about this AR?
HauteHippie Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 is this the best available AR? ok than look AR on my swiss case... and this is not moded or overworked... it is standard AR from factory. what do you guys think about this AR? That's extremely tinted. With the AR coating I use, it's difficult to detect the tint without the watch dial in place. And black dials reveal the tint more so than white ones. Also the degree of tint is partially controlled by the substrate material itself, and will noticeably vary if you're using mineral vs sapphire for example. But the real question is how well does it inhibit reflections, as that is its job. Good AR coatings will often times make the crystal "disappear", i.e. make it look like there is no crystal on the watch at all. The degree of color tint is secondary. The only coating I've seen this deep a blue was on my Breitling Seawolf Avenger from the factory. I removed that coating and had that crystal double coated later, and there was a marked improvement in that situation. But, at the same time, it went from being single coated to double coated - so not a fair comparison at all.
TighTTChrono Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Wow!!! Looks stunning!! Is there going to be another run of A/R coating?? I have a bunch that I would LOVE to get coated!! Also, Flav: I noticed you said "if you see your watch here it's shipping back to you monday AM". Does this mean you work on watches?
Mo_till Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Too bad you guys are not located in the EU..
dluddy Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 A couple of quick Pics from my two in this run: VC Overseas IWC Ingeneur: It is hard to describe how good this Double Side AR from Chief really is. The crystal seems to dissapear and the dial just POPS out at you. Big shout to Flav for popping the crystals out and in for me.
HauteHippie Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 A couple of quick Pics from my two in this run: Lookin good!!
milwaukee Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Flav and Chief, My hat's off to you both. The Pilot in the pic is mine, and in my mind, pics can't describe how great the watch looks. I never would have imagined how big of a difference a good AR job does for the watch. In my mind, it's my new favorite mod. Thanks again.
Bazz Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 My crystals for my Ingy and 187 arrived this week also and I can also confirm the coating really does make a difference. I this pic you can see the difference compared to a one of the better rep AR's on the PO and with my 063 on the end with no AR. This pic is straight out of the camera, no PS or lens filter and yea the Ingy dial does look that good!
HauteHippie Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Looks great, Bazz. The comparison with the rep AR coating on the PO is very interesting!! I'd love to see a comparison to the rep coating on the Steelfish. I think the Steelfish coating is the real deal, and my only question would be how durable it is in comparison to the professional coat... Although I doubt anyone will volunteer to perform that test!!
Dani Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Great work guys, this is what makes this forum so great Best, Dani
Defender110 Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 wow... where are the lip marks from this run??? I SEE NO LIP MARkS from this run of crystals! has this been resolved or improved??
Watchmeister Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 I am curious as to whether the Pilot in that batch was an EL Pilot. I have one on the way and would like to throw it into the next batch but don't want to ruin it by putting AR on top of AR.
Bazz Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 You could coat it but you would have to strip the original AR first.
dluddy Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 The AR on my EL Pilot is fine for me Kruzer. It is definately there so as mentioned, the existing AR would have to be removed first.
HauteHippie Posted June 16, 2007 Report Posted June 16, 2007 wow... where are the lip marks from this run??? I SEE NO LIP MARkS from this run of crystals! has this been resolved or improved?? They are there as always.
