gran Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) Lots of talk about the Sea-Gull movements lately....they also make their own watches Unfortunately the individuals in charge of the Sea-Gull watches are as lacking in horological skills as the ones the make replicas....Someone was really asleep at the wheel at Sea-Gull...or is a result of the fact that time is divided in another way in China than we in the west are used to Chinese people tend to divide the hour into 12 intervals so maybe they are in the right and we are wrong Can you spot the "glaring" mistakes in the dials on these Sea-Gull watches take your time #1 picture to come #2 http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1267/551429...d23cf5c35_o.jpg I am looking forward to the answers Edited June 28, 2007 by Gunnar Gran
slickdick Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 the 12 hour index on the minute hand is a bit odd
ubiquitous Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I'm assuming this is a jump hour (and that's not the date window/display)... I don't see any apparent problems with the dial or watch in general...? Nothing stands out at least... Not like this anyways...
gran Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) I am shocked......this is RWG......you should know well what mistake is made on that sea-dial solve this before TTK comes, solves and makes fun of us all g. (yeah! I saw the chrono my friend) Edited June 28, 2007 by Gunnar Gran
ubiquitous Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I dunno... I don't see it. I think I'm trying to hard to find a problem... I'll have another look at it in a few after I've had my Starbucks for the morning...
crystalcranium Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Maybe that the 3 is bottomed out to the inside of the dial and not the outside???
V Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Nope.. don't see anything outrageous either.. And I am very good on spotting flaws
gran Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 I understand that you are not used to this kind of watches but the mistake is so elementary that you will likely laugh when the solution comes... @baltic Yes this could be a mistake and I was thinking the same thing at first......but the mistake is actually much more serious one than that...you did not solve this one yet Come on guys....solve it....before TTK arrives and spoils the fun
gran Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) the 12 hour index on the minute hand is a bit odd That is exactly the problem with this dial you are a true horologist now explain why this is so odd to all of us (I appologize to all that I did not spot slickdicks answer before now....) Edited June 28, 2007 by Gunnar Gran
Everythingape Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 The only thing I think looks weird is the 9 set like that.. But I guess that would follow normally after the 3 is set like that too. ..but then again.. I can't see anything weird about ubiquitous' Regatta either.
narikaa Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 C'mon peeps... Regulateur config....Hour Aperture, Large seconds hand So Dial should be 0-60 Not Hour markings Surely superfluous .
gran Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 C'mon peeps... Regulateur config....Hour Aperture, Large seconds hand So Dial should be 0-60 Not Hour markings Surely superfluous . You have proven that you are a true horologist Re You are absolutely correct
ubiquitous Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 C'mon peeps... Regulateur config....Hour Aperture, Large seconds hand So Dial should be 0-60 Not Hour markings Surely superfluous. Must admit... This didn't seem obvious to me... The jump hour function was... But I guess I don't look at too many jump hours (most that I seem to recall paying attention to were the retrogrades, like GG, Chronoswiss, etc) or regulateurs for that matter...
narikaa Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 You have proven that you are a true horologist Re You are absolutely correct Then again if it had been a photo of a tawdry Sub with an ever so slightly wrong rehaut - they'd have been all over it like scalded earwigs!!
gran Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 We see what we are trained to see This was great fun
V Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 We see what we are trained to see This was great fun Of course.. we have trained eagle eyes for the smallest flaws... Not something so basic!!!!
fitmic Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 You have proven that you are a true horologist Re You are absolutely correct I think I'm more of a whorologist.
gran Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 I think I'm more of a whorologist. Sheeessssssss...just like my friend highflyingclive
crystalcranium Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 We see what we are trained to see This was great fun You're spending way too much time staring at those micro-array expression chips!!!!!
gran Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) You're spending way too much time staring at those micro-array expression chips!!!!! come to think of it ....your probably right...need to do (use my skills on) something else to stay sane Edited June 28, 2007 by Gunnar Gran
andreww Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 (edited) This has always been my favorite boner! Can you spot the mistake? Edited June 28, 2007 by andreww
gran Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 wow that small seconds is pretty crazy...multiple error if you ask me....does it relly say "50" after 55 or is it just a poor pick?
andreww Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 The flaw is a lot bigger than that gran. Remember this is a nascar watch, aimed at the good ole boys!
