sssurfer Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 Some time ago I fell in love for gold hands PAMs, 127-203-217 style. But my wrist and the need for date prevented me from getting one of those models. Rather, I thought to put gold hands on a PAM104. And, thanks to Davidsen, I have been able to realize my project. Here are some pics. What do you think? The small second hand is a bit oversized (4.5 mm instead of 3.5). This was my fault, I told Davidsen a wrong size. A correct hand is currently on its way to me.
ehtolcad Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 looks really unique!!! i have been waiting on these pics since you posted about it, and let me tell you that i'm not disappointed in the least. perhaps you would grace us with a wrist shot?
sssurfer Posted May 11, 2006 Author Report Posted May 11, 2006 looks really unique!!! i have been waiting on these pics since you posted about it, and let me tell you that i'm not disappointed in the least. perhaps you would grace us with a wrist shot? Thanks, ehtolcad! It needed some days, as my job kept me very busy after my first post about it. But I remembered of your interest, so as soon as I got a free moment the first thing I did was to take these pictures. But -- ouch, you are right, I missed a wrist shot! Ok, I hope to be able to post it before week-end...
mossanti Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 DAMN thats really nice man ...a real genuine project for sure...no replicas anymore :)
Esmarc Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 Very nice looking watch there Sssurfer. You may have just drummed up a little business for Davidsen! Esmarc
RWG Technical Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 I think it's great, thanks to Davidsen, more and more are able to get special projects or spare parts... Great looking watch, RG
sssurfer Posted May 11, 2006 Author Report Posted May 11, 2006 Thank you all folks, I am flattered. And a special thanks to The Zigmeister, who helped me in knowing the correct size for the hour and minute hands. As promised, here are some wrist shots: @Esmarc: hi, mate! Should this turn out in a small business for Davidsen, he would just deserve it. You figure, he had to place an order for 10 hand sets to the manufacturing company, just to let me have my 1 set. So, I think he has 9 ready sets waiting for customers...
MAHLER Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 This Davidsen is really good.... beautiful job!!! But how much have you spent for the modding ?
ehtolcad Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 thanks so very much, i too think that davidsen won't have any problem getting rid of those other 9 sets! and a special thanks for the wrist shots!
Richard Tracy Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 Wow... that is one Great Looking Watch ! I had the same idea,.. but have yet to follow through, but now I know just how beautiful it turn out ! Thanks for posting !
sssurfer Posted May 12, 2006 Author Report Posted May 12, 2006 But how much have you spent for the modding ? Davidsen's hands costed USD 45. My watchsmith replaced them for free (but I gave him EUR 10 anyway). Davidsen also sent me for free the new small second hand that I am waiting for. He did not even want me refund him for expedition fees!
exper Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 Very nice peiece, full gold peices might not be right for some of us but the gold hands do add that bit of slight subtle elegance !
pubus Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 hmm one of a kind custom piece I prefer black hands but this one still looks gorgous
mossanti Posted May 12, 2006 Report Posted May 12, 2006 are you going out with this PAM this weekend ? really nice
sssurfer Posted May 12, 2006 Author Report Posted May 12, 2006 are you going out with this PAM this weekend ? really nice Thanks! (And thanks all, people! Honestly, I was not expecting such a general consent ). But, as I am going to the sea, I am a little concerned about the resistance of it and the leather strap to sea wind and saltness... I think I'll rather go back on one of my SS bracelet models. The 027, maybe?... Or the 050?... Or 090?... (Still waiting for my 028 back from PVD coating). I think I have too many PAMs these times... All RWG's fault!
ehtolcad Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 I think I have too many PAMs these times... All RWG's fault! bite your tongue!!!
Chronus Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Nice Maybe your watchsmith can test it's water resistance and you'll be ok by the sea. You can always put a bracelet on it while you are by the sea.
premiumdesigners Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 are the hands real gold or just gold plated. i ordered from davidsen and didnt ask, woops.
