rek001
I read this on Timezone forum today - from an Omega press release, the official James Bond watch featured in the upcoming movie will be the swirly dial 007 Omega Seamaster, which I think is clumsy and over-designed. Too bad, the PO on black rubber strap is a beautiful watch.
ratchpot
I saw that post as well. There's no way they'll use the swirly dial watch in the movie (I have no evidence... just using common sense). He'll use a normal 300 M Diver Chronometer, while the swirly dial version will probably be a limited edition available to the public, just like they did with the old "007" dial Seamaster. Chronus
I can't see that one in the movie either. It has to be low-profile and not stand out too much.
Edge
The watch in the film is a black PO, it has been spotted in the screen releases that have been aired, and also pictures from the shooting.
r11co
<<sigh>> Does no one EVER read my posts on this subject. The movie character will wear two Omega watches - the black 45mm Planet Ocean with rubber strap, and the 300m Seamaster Professional GMT.

Bignasty
Yeah I can picture it now. Bond walks into the Casino wearing a tux and an Omega (swirly dial 007 edition). He very calmly sits at the table to get in on a game. His adversary sitting across from him, unknowing. Bond calls "hit me" to the dealer while he places a high bet. His rival sitting across asks his name while glaring at his double O watch. Bond replies "Bond, James Bond" while looking at his cards. The enemy say's "What line of work are you in Mr. Bond?" Bond replies, "I work for Universal Exports, a supplier of fine Swiss Omega watches like this one on my wrist. Were making them to promote the movie series of the famous bristish double agent, James Bond!" He continues "you see its merely a coincidence that I'm wearing the watch and sitting across from you! You see I'm not a spy and I'm not trying to stop your plot to take over the world!" Sorry got a little carried away. It just seems really stupid that James Bond would wear the James Bond Special Edition watch! It would kind of blow his cover, plus it would be like Angus Young of AC/DC wearing an AC/DC shirt when he's performing w/ the band! I saw the preview the last time I was in the theater and it looked like a black PO on rubber strap to me! Of course now if he was Diddy or P Diddy or Puffy or P Diddily Daddy Pu he could wear a Sean Jean shirt while self promoting! r11co
The Co-axial GMT or the older GMT? The Co-Axial. Omega would have run with the 300m SMP professional blue they'd used in the last three movies (continuity of props!), but they wanted to showcase the Co-Axial movement in their promotional material and the Co-Ax version of that watch is not yet on the market. Without giving too much of the plot away, the Planet Ocean will feature in the major action elements of the first half of the movie, the SMP GMT taking over for the 'tuxedo' scenes and the slower paced stuff later on. The draft of the script I saw even had dialogue between James Bond and one of the characters where the watch brand is mentioned by name. Dunno if that'll make it into the movie though... docblackrock
Why all the fuss??? Official or not, who cares, I think its pretty much established now that he'll wear both. Personally, I have always loved the 45 black PO on rubber and I really hope it is not marketed as THE NEW Bond watch, not being snobby just don't want to see every Tom [censored] and Harriet with one strapped to their wrists.... I can just see the marketing boys at Omega now, just rubbing their hands with lasvicious glee.....ker-ching! p.s. love the new avatar Neil, Windsor Davies 'lovely boy!' , classic

Nope. It's 47" x 21" (approx), and I've got one hanging on my study wall. I can't tell for sure which model it is from the picture as the watch is halfway up his sleeve and covered in shadow, but I have been assured DC's been wearing a s/s GMT on the set for filming since they shifted from the Bahamas. I've also been told that the poster was a photoshop job by some Finnish promotions company who got a model to pose and then they superimposed Mr Craig's face afterwards, so there's a fair chance they got the prop wrong. One thing is for sure - he ain't wearing the 40th Anniversry one with his codename on the face. Edited June 15, 2006 by r11co
r11co
This just in... That's a recent reshoot of the original publicity shot from the end of last year. Major changes are DC's hair do and the watch (switched from the rubber strap Planet Ocean in the original picture). Proof that he'll be wearing a SS banded watch for the tux scenes. PS. This shot was allegedly leaked from Omega's promotions department and is apparently going to be used in their publicity material. I suspect that the blurring is intentional to keep the mystique up a little longer. Am I mistaken or can I see a fuzzy extra red hand on that face? Edit - I've just seen the (embargoed) press release that goes with the picture. The watch is named as the "Seamaster 300 M Diver Chronometer", so no GMT after all it seems.... r11co
Look like the normal SMP to me.. It would appear more and more likely that this is the case! Interesting u-turn for Omega. A watch that a few months ago they were saying was going to be phased out because it didn't have the Co-Axial movement now seems to be getting a fresh promotion boost. Or perhaps this marks the launch of a Co-Axial version...? More questions than answers.....
