anton
Wow! Look at all the overwheling responses about this "gay" thread! I laughed, I cried, I misunderstood, I've read them a couple times over. Maybe we should just add the word "gay" to all the topics here! Then we'll have an active forum! I wonder what kind of opinions we'll receive if I ask if whether or not my movement is gay? Oh and V, "flame war" was supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek joke. Rxus
i was out watch shopping with a buddy of mine here in MIA...and the first store he parades in is...of course the Movado store in Dadeland Mall. I only followed him in becasue he was more then half way to the back of the store.. Sure their are just a small few movados that catch my attention, but overall I'd like to raise the Gay flag for that brand. I know my buddy isn't gay (as much as we teased him for being one as teenagers) but hes happily married now and wants a second Movado watch.. Luckily a pulled him out before he took out his wallet on some 600 dollar museum collection...what an ugly watch, black dial, no prints just some glass round thing marking 12...it was Quartz for crying out loud!!!!!!!! I was close to revealing my dirty secret of owning reps, and having the connection of this board...But maybe another day/year/century i'll let him know. lemonvr6
I have a gen J12 chrono with the white diamond bezel. Doesn't bother me one bit. Just a matter of how comfortable you are with yourself.
The Mentalist
Doesn't bother me one bit. Just a matter of how comfortable you are with yourself. I've never quite understood the meaning of that. I mean, a watch does not make you gay. What would concern me would be is people getting the wrong idea of me and attracting the wrong kind of attention. It's not about sexuality or sexual insecurity, it's about pragmatism. What would concern me would be is people getting the wrong idea of me and attracting the wrong kind of attention. It's not about sexuality or sexual insecurity, it's about pragmatism. On theory, I agree. But I've had a girl pinch my bum at a club, and I slapped her hand away, startling her. I was wearing all black togs, with Doc Marten boots, and very little makeup, so I'm not sure if I was sending out the wrong "signals" that night. I mean, I'm still me -- a girly girl. But I still wore my black togs and Doc Martens other times. Sex-pests of any gender shouldn't ever prevent one from doing what one likes. P.S.: As a girl, come ons/being chatted up are a normal part of life. I expect it. Depending on how its done, I can laugh, go "ugh", be charmed or creeped out by it. Part of the problem with the gay thing in males, is that you don't want ever to invite that kind of "come on" from another man, yes? You are supposed to be the chaser, not the chasee, the "dominant" partner, not the "passive". To me, this is the single-most obvious reason why there are gay threads, even light-hearted ones like this thread has been, on male-centric forums. Because you can sure bet "Does this make me look gay?" threads don't occur in women's forums.
World Traveller
I was looking at a ceramic white Chanel watch for men and my wife said it was a little too "gay" looking... Something funny, when you type in "gay watch rolex" into google this thread is the 3rd link that comes up.
World Traveller
Unfortunately, he has really bad taste in watches. Movado, Misha? Say it ain't so! (Yeah, sorry guys. Not a fan. Movado is gay) Yeah it's funny how growing up sometimes we are conditioned to think that ballet is "gay" or that doing ballet is not a masculine thing. Then when you get older you realize if you do ballet you get to dance with incredibly gorgeous ballerinas in amazing shape and in very sensuous movements....I feel like a real dummy for going to basketball camp with sweaty guys when I could have been learning ballet I agree that Mikhail's movado has to go, but he has an endorsement deal with them I think I recall seeing ads with him wearing one. Like Shaq had. And I believe 6'7 Peter Crouch got dancing lessons, to which he invited his clubmates to witness. They died laughing. I agree that Mikhail's movado has to go, but he has an endorsement deal with them I think I recall seeing ads with him wearing one. Oh God, yes that must be it. I vaguely recall what you are referring to. I love Misha, really, but that guy is stuck in the 70s, when he was at his height and the brands of the period were cool. Like Movado. I'm sure he still has his super tight Sergio Valentes somewhere...

TeeJay
wtf, 3 days and 5 pages and no Cazzomir pics That's the kind of 'in-joke' mod that appeals to my sense of humor. Pugwash
Strangely enough, no one on either side of my family is gay (I mean, outwardly!). Whereas ... I'm the one with the invites to Mrs Pugwash's cousin's wedding that sounds like a porn title: Lesbian Nurse Wedding. No, I don't have any spare tickets. Victoria
Whereas ... I'm the one with the invites to Mrs Pugwash's cousin's wedding that sounds like a porn title: Lesbian Nurse Wedding. Gayness is also in the eyes of the beholder. Mind-altering info, I realise. My cousin Tarquin (yes, I know, what can I say) is now serving in Afghanistan after a young life of dissolution with wine, women, cocaine and Chelsea FC, but whenever he came to see me in Miami, people flat out asked me if he were gay. I said, no he's just British. Come on, you know that's true. We do androgynous-effete very well, even in the working-classes. I mean Jude Law looks like a prince, and was chosen because of his elegant air to play the role of Dickie Greenleaf in The Talented Mr. Ripley, but he's from Lewisham. Try that with someone from the Bronx. My ex-boyfriend (who gets a second mention today!) used to swear he was gay. Right, tell it to the nanny. No, I don't have any spare tickets. Drat. I have the Doc Marten boots too. Ah well, always the bridesmaid, never the lesbian bride.
