DuDro Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 I thought this side-by-side comparison of a brushed and polished Breitling Chronomat Evolution would be helpful for those considering this mod. I did not perform the mod to my watch. It was purchased from a fellow member who had it done. I've always liked the subdued look of the brushed case and bracelet of the Breitling Blackbird, but I think I like it better on the larger EVO case. Please note that the brushed version has Swiss guts and the polished has the Asian counterpart. The only difference that I can discern is that the hands and stem are "more stable" when adjusting the time with the Swiss movement. The amount of noise from the rotor is about the same and both keep very accurate time. One more thing I noticed is that the Asian version's date changes over at exactly midnight. The Swiss version fully changes over around 5 minutes after. Not a major issue since this can be fixed when I change out the date wheel for a Lello date wheel. Enjoy the pictures... Now I need to ask myself...Do I need both? Hmmmm....
b16a2 Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Nice work, the brushed finish really adds something to the watch!
Raijor Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 The same watch but at the same time two different watches. I like both for different reasons. The polished is all Breitling bling and the brushed is all Breitling utility. This was a great thread idea. Very informative and useful.
Omega Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 I don't know why, but I don't like the brushed...
millemiglia Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Just the opposite here, brushed is the (mine at least ) way to go!
Rxus Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Brushed gets my two thumbs up!! Question though, there is no gen equivalent on the Evo lineup correct? Regardless if i were to get an BCE I would brush it just like this one. great pics btw

andreww Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 Great pics! Does the Asian version have AR? From your pics I see no difference.
CY0811 Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 The AR is very visible on both watches since they share the same AR from the factory.
DuDro Posted November 7, 2007 Author Report Posted November 7, 2007 Both have about equal amounts of AR. Both are double-sided with a blueish tint which makes the dial really stand out...No complaints about the AR...Me likes!
Dizzy Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 polished is way nicer!!! I think i am about to buy one of these too!!
andreww Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Both have about equal amounts of AR. Both are double-sided with a blueish tint which makes the dial really stand out...No complaints about the AR...Me likes! May I ask which dealer is selling the asian version with AR?
Fireman_Fred Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 May I ask which dealer is selling the asian version with AR? Andrew, Josh, Paul, that I know of.....
andreww Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Andrew lists his asian version with mineral glass, no AR.
w2w Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 My BCE U has the polished bracelet whereas I prefer the brushed. Is there any way of making the polished surface so it looks like the brushed?
