The name branding in Casino Royale made me sick :yucky: ..but i thought the movie was ok.

I guess i'll never get used to a half balding 007

i agree with mentalist - in the books its all about the big names...in fact in every bond film?! maybe not as obvious as SONY though...

Moore and connery were bald/balding. The original sketch of bond was a dark man receeding.....you are right though craig doesnt fit my mental picture of bond either. Dalton is the way forward!!

Damn right! Dalton is serious under rated. I believe Fleming described Bond as looking like a a young Hoagie Carmichael. Of all the Bond's Dalton looks physically the closest to someone who was half scottish/half Italian.

Okay, what is up with Daytonas in film? Everywhere I turn, whoopthereitis.

I'm telling you...unbelievable. It's the prop watch of CHOICE!

Check out the Paul Newman as worn by JASON BATEMAN (hello, 80s hearthrob) in the wry, hip teen comedy "Juno".

It's a smart film which I think you will like, if you haven't seen it yet. It was just nominated for several Oscars today. :)

Cool thread.

Side note on the Omegas used in Casino Royale (and most movies where a sponsored brand is used), the watch company provides both "hero" props as well as "stunt" props.

The Hero props are real working watches that are used in the extreme close-up shots and the "stunt" props are typically nothing more then cases with dials and hands attached but not working watches. The actors and stunt doubles will wear these during action scenes as well as for distant shots.

Most movies do the same with other props such as firearms and swords. You'll have a closeup hero which will typically be real and the stunts which are normally either resin, plastic, rubber, or wood.

I remember reading that some actors have written into their contracts that they can keep the wardrobe they wore after filming is completed. Given the power of some stars I am sure that would go for watches too. I am thinking specifically of some of the higher end stars and higher end watches. Stars get a lot of stuff comped to them.

yeah, i really loved the movie, thought it was the best new bond flick in a long time, but the product placement was ridiculous. I don't mind it here and there, but at least be subtle about it .

OTOH, they do torch pricey cars all the time, don't they. I still pine for that 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California in Ferris Bueller.

You do know that the 250GT in Ferris Bueller's Day Off was a replica right??? A very nice California Coach custom IIRC.... ;)
