How to make muchos dinaros in parts!

Recommended Posts

Recently had to purchase some Omega bits via Ofrei.

I was told that shipping was U$37, and although it seemed excessive, I had few options.

The parcel arrived today... you can't beleive that a company would pack 1 x stem, 1 x crown, and 1 x buckle, in a "Flat rate" box measuring approx 12" x 12" x 4". It was all in an envelope, smaller than a conventional mail envelope!

It did have some wonderful bags of air, and bubble wrap surrounding it, ( which I threw in the bin)

This all could have shipped for under U$5, and it's not as if Ofrei are making the $$, cos the box costs that to ship.

Just another wonderful example of "policies" gone wrong.

Are there no people with brains to think for themselves left in this world?

At best somone could have made the decision to post in a normal envelope, and make the company some extra profit... and you know I would be less aggrieved if that had happened, I HAD agreed to the post charge... but to ship a box of air, and give the $$ to US Post??? Doesn't make any sense to me.

Funny world we live in.

Are you in Antarctica by chance? That sounds ridiculous. I can usually ship flat rate envelopes to europe for I think, $12, and flat rate boxes for about double that. When using non-usps provided boxes, the price is steeper, but seriously, the USPS boxes are free.

Sounds like they don't care what you pay, as long as you pay.

@llsteve80.

No mate, a little island just north... called Oztralia  You are dead right, captive markets generate total complacency.

@fitmic... The price includes the box!

@Bazz... Yep, Looked there, they didn't have the bits I needed. S**t, I would deal with anyone from the UK before Bob Frei!

@KB,....... Bag of air.... Pop!... $3 Thank you Sir....Pop!... $3 Thank you Sir....Pop!... $3 Thank you Sir.... "Now you be sure you have a great day!!!

Probably a good thing, I only have to pay 0.01c (U$) to squeeze each of the bubble wrap bubbles ;) But it is sure a different way to get your jollies

Perhaps they get the really ambitious shipping options at the post with "extreme top priority" and "full tracking"... to ship a watch from Canada to china with basic traceable airmail in Canada, will cost you minimum $45-$50. Courier less, but you risk confiscation.

This is not uncommon here.
