magagne Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 Beautiful watch, creamy sub-dial/Bezel... One deception I got was, I was shocked about how thin the crystal is on this model... when I gently taped with my fingernail, it sounds like a plastic crystal... the gen do the same?
rodwc Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 So your first Breitling, you are now hooked I think. Great watch the Navitimer. The crystal certainly won`t take any heavy knocks, so best to be aware when you are wearing it. I know this will sound strange, but if you touch the crystal with your front tooth and tap your tooth on it, you will definately know if its plexi or not , the feel is something you wont forget, when comparing to plastic. ( try it, im not mad !! )
b16a2 Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 Nice purchase. The sapphire on the gens is also fairly thin when compared with other watches. This is becuse it has no diving capabilities, so there is no need for a thick glass. It will withstand a lot but don't try the hammer test
G.H. Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 Awesome watch, congrats ! I am after a Navitimer as well, who did you get it from if I may ask ?
capice Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 looks huge bro, congrats , wear it well
magagne Posted January 17, 2008 Author Report Posted January 17, 2008 Awesome watch, congrats ! I am after a Navitimer as well, who did you get it from if I may ask ? Andrew at trustyTime.

magagne Posted January 17, 2008 Author Report Posted January 17, 2008 Send the crystal for a nice AR coating and the Nav. is a great rep....enjoy.... Of course, it will be in for the AR Feb Chief run and a full servicing by The Zigmeister. I never cut corner
Emmzy Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 That tooth test is a winner! Just tried it, my Navi certainly isn't plastic!
rodwc Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 That tooth test is a winner! Just tried it, my Navi certainly isn't plastic! Strange isn`t it. Its like one gets a sound and a feeling, which then goes straight to the brain for storage. A stranger tooth test is for a Balata golf ball. Balata seems to give a rubbery softness, that only a tooth can understand. Nothing to do with rep watches, and ones own teeth are needed.

Ok, now when is the next run for a "MIL ceramic coating" on my tooth

Here is the double AR Jakub threw on my Navi, Highly recommend this guy and his customer service!
andreww Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Thats a beautiful first watch you got there! Actually its the same as my first serious watch, the one that got me hooked!
Pugwash Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 The plastic feel is due to the crystal being mounted in the movable bezel.
magagne Posted January 19, 2008 Author Report Posted January 19, 2008 For those who has it too, the bezel is not white, but more creamy, the gen has a creamy bezel too?
magagne Posted January 19, 2008 Author Report Posted January 19, 2008 For those who has it too, the bezel is not white, but more creamy, the gen has a creamy bezel too? I answered my own question, I visited a Breitling AD today and answer is: 1 - The bezel and subdial of gen are more whiter than the rep. 2- The sound when I tapped on sapphire on the gen it make a more solid sound than our rep.
