bertieng
Have found this dial on the bay, is it correct? I have some concern on the gilt marking of the 3,6,9 markers, are the lines supposed to be printed like this? Any Rollie experts can confirm? Thanks. freddy333
I have never seen a gen dial like that & it looks to new (probably a repaint if it is/was gen). But anything is possible with Rolex, so I would do a thorough check of the seller. Buy the seller before you buy the watch.
pfff
here is one gen dial to compare : the markings seem wrong but not so much , could be modified easily ( i think ? ) by the way, are you trying to do a 6538 project ? if so where did you source the case ? Zeitgeist
In the James Bond movies, the 6538 has numbers at 12, 3, 6 and 9, and there isnt a red triangle at the 12 mark on the bezel. Having said that, with Rolex anything is possible as they never kept records and used old parts on new models! Incidentally, has anyone got a nice 6538 rep for sale? freddy333
I am familiar with the model & variations of it, but I have never seen the lines surrounding the index markers extending beyond the rectangle like they do on that (repainted) dial. But I agree it could probably be modified with a bit of strategically placed black paint & a matte finish. But it would require the talents of an artist (I am thinking Ziggy here) to do it right. Nanuq
Here's my 6536 ... no serifs on the indices
POTR
That dial is a mess... a nice, fresh looking mess... The indice borders are wrong, yes. The Font is good for ROLEX, bad for incorrectly sized for nearly everything else. Oyster Perpetual is oversized, as is the 200m = 660ft and Officially Certified Chronometer. Submariner is oversized and too THIN. Swiss looks good. Outer ring and seconds looks good.
