Tribal Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 (edited) Hello, after i fluted my mbw Sub with water ( the washer was damaged) I replaced the movement with a new Eta 2824-2. It was a easy swap. The movement fitted correctly... The dateoverlay was a little bit misaligned so it was a matter to do it. Here some pics of the result.... This is my daily watch i love it a lot RG Tribal Edited June 15, 2006 by Tribal
ubiquitous Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Excellent work, and fantastic pics! I love that image of the balance wheel showing the movement ref! Looks great!
Sherrington Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Well done. Great job. Just changed my MBW 1680 movement to a 2846 for a slower beat. Had to mess around with the datewheel at the same time as well.
Craytonic Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 What exactly does "messing around with the date wheel" entail? Please elaborate
Defender110 Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 did the MBW hands fit to the ETA movement?

ubiquitous Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Well done. Great job. Just changed my MBW 1680 movement to a 2846 for a slower beat. Had to mess around with the datewheel at the same time as well. Glad to see there are folks out there doing the 2846's! I swap all of my vintage Sub/SD movements with these slow beaters... It makes for a huge difference!
Craytonic Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 I changed the datewheel at the same time to a more correct bold font version. The datewindow and date numbers didn't exactly line up so I had to take off the dial and refix in the exact position both vertically & horizontally. Not an easy task. And I messed about with it for 5 HOURS!!!!!!
Defender110 Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 I'd say so, as MBW's are usually equipped with ETA movements, namely 2836-2 - they have the same hands size as the 2824 has...

2005SUBMARINER Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 excellent job ! i would of taken advantage of the fact that the watch was taken apart & gone ahead & polish the brass type metal spacer to make it apear a lil more shiney just a lil detail .. but excellent work !!!
