Any interest in a Guangzhou update?

Hopefully , by this time next Sat. I will be in Guangzhou,

that is if the inclement weather has improved, and the weather is comparable

to what we are having here in Oz., ( sunny and 27 degrees C, ) :D and the airport remains open.

If there is any interest in me doing some kind of travelogue regarding reps. etc. I

would oblige.

I know this topic has been covered by 2 or 3 other members in the past couple of years

and thought an update could possibly be of some help and interest.

Please give me your thoughts.

Cheers. :D

I would welcome an update. Won't it be slow due to Chinese New Year though?

Fine,

I have been assured by a couple of sources that the shops and markets will be open and in full swing,

especially during CNY. ( only the factories will be closed, and most likely our collectors).

If I had a choice I would have gone a little later, but then the large international trade fair starts in April,

and hotel and prices skyrocket everywhere.

Keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks in advance rodwc! I will be looking forward to your updates! If there's any chance, can add in some pictures too that will be great! Have a nice trip! ;)

I'd love to read your travelogue,TeevTee's from a few years was so interesting - I still have this image in my mind of a solid block of steel bracelets 3 foot tall all wrapped up in plastic, crazy.

Have a great trip and I hope all goes well for you.

i'd definitely be interested in an update -- it's always revealing to see what things are like in the place that is the origin of most of our watches....

have a great trip, and take a bunch of pictures :victory:

just curious, where abouts in Guangzhou are the main shopping areas for watches, etc.. ?

At this stage , this is all I know. Stay tuned.

Reg, ( Narika) gave verbal directions in a post a while back, basically just head for the bus station.

Pictures are going to be a problem though.

I could take a movie config. and cover the red light over, but then I`m not sure if I can upload it to photobucket.

Thanks! My bro is actually going there in a couple of days. Those directions are very generic to say the least... Gam Si Lao... Watch district.. I guess everyone in Guangzhou would know where that is :)

Yeah i don't know how you would be able to update us while you're there... have fun! :)

Guangzhou overview.

If you look closely , you can just make out where all the Panerais are made,

and Andrew waving from the bridge BRHS. :cc_chinese:

Have a safe trip Rod.

I'll be there at the end of Feb. My company has an office in Zhongshan and my direct report there acts as a translator for me when I'm there. She's already located the markets in Guangzhou and Shenzhen for my trip. :D

i'll also be in HK, Shantou, and GZ for 2 weeks in late March. You know the building names at the watch district?
