bwhitesox Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 After almost 6 months gathering the parts my Super Avenger is Finished...Well apart from the Lello datewheel which I need to find a new watchmaker to install. Gen: Bezel, Dial, Strap. Rep: Hands, Deployment Crystal: Double AR from K2222 ETA 7750 movement. Enjoy.
mikellem Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Geat Job! Enjoy your new beauty! It can't get any better... -MM
Shundi Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Love it! Once that datewheel is in it'll be nearly perfect... Who'd you get the mov't from??
bwhitesox Posted February 28, 2008 Author Report Posted February 28, 2008 Movement from ajoesmith and the rep case was from Ruby.
b16a2 Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Looks brilliant! I tried one if these on the other day, I thought my old 127 was big, but this wears like a grandfather clock on a strap! Loved it.
lazarini Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Never into avengers or for that fact breitlings at all , but this one is just stunning example of what can be done ... great results , wear it well ! regards laz
Seadweller4000 Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Great project! I give you a Gold Star for this!
bwhitesox Posted February 28, 2008 Author Report Posted February 28, 2008 Thanks guys, Maybe one day I can get the gen hands to finish this off properly as the rep ones are a little too short. I can get them but for the money it is not worth it
ExtraExtra Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Now this is what you call the 'ultimate' super rep!!
anton Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Thanks guys, Maybe one day I can get the gen hands to finish this off properly as the rep ones are a little too short. I can get them but for the money it is not worth it That is one beautiful SA. How about some shots of the caseback? It surely is getting there... Just one question, how is K222's AR coating?
ubiquitous Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Admittedly, I'm not a Breitling guy, but damn that looks GREAT! Very nice!
italiano17771 Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 the best SA i have seen yet. you even have the updated large wings logo!! what an amazing job....congrats!! quick question...i used to have a SA and the crystal was pretty bad. it had the bottle effect when you looked at it at angles....did the AR help this at all or does it still look weird when you look at it from a sharp angle?
dluddy Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Very nice looking Breitling. Nice job
Watchmeister Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 Congrats. Obviously a good amount of effort went into and it was worth it. Wear it well.
anton Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 "Bottle effect" happens when the crystal is flat on the bottom but domed at the top. I have a gen SA and viewing the watch from the sides does NOT give a gistorted view of the rest of the dial. Perhaps because it is concave in the inside.
Rxus Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 What beauty, one day I plan to either splurge on a gen or if patience patience permits, I'll build one like this..again terrific piece of work you have there good sir.
bwhitesox Posted February 29, 2008 Author Report Posted February 29, 2008 @Italiano, Yes this one does have a slight bottle effect but with K2222's great AR coating it almost gets rid of it. Thanks everyone for all of the great comments.
milsub5517 Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 how much did the dial and bezel cost you?
bwhitesox Posted February 29, 2008 Author Report Posted February 29, 2008 Bezel was off of ebay for around $100 and the dial was more than this
HauteHippie Posted March 1, 2008 Report Posted March 1, 2008 Looks great. That dial makes this watch... And I love this shot in particular. Crisp and clean: Congrats and enjoy!
