Ztech Posted March 14, 2008 Report Share Posted March 14, 2008 I'm no expert mind you, but the dial seems way off. The 6 seems off and the Swiss L's are way too close to the 6. The Luminor Marina & Panerai seem to use the wrong fonts and the crown seems to be too far from the case. The crown itself looks fairly good and fat though, but please I'm still a noob and still learning so you might want to hold out for the "experts" to chime in. Good luck. Ztech is correct about some of the details. Just compare them to a gen on the offical website or google image one. But seriously I doubt you'll get called out on this one because of the Font unless you stand in the middle of a Risti gtg. I would change the strap though as those light brown numbers are pretty plastic like. Also Paul has his good and bad reviews but I'd check that its still in stock first. Apart from those already pointed out, and as you specifically asked about the swan neck, the swan neck is not "dagger" style (correct on PAM), it is "needle" style (uncorrect on PAM). The bad news is that it resembles those CharlyJakob/Pantast/Malaysia/Thailand straps. If so, be prepared for really bad leather, like cheap shoe leather as V once explained. The thread looks like yarn, and feels very scratchy. Pantast sells these "vintage" straps on Risti. The strapmakers, Phillip and Pornthrip couldn't be nicer, but ech, what yukkie straps. Note the same misspelling of "length" (common enough even with English-speakers, but still suspicious), the ending about PayPal, the exclamation points separation, and most tellingly, the single-line, Two-Tone-type spacing. The thing is, I emailed the Pantast folks, and they struck me as Asian by their syntax and approach. CharlyJakob struck me as a German living in Thailand or who deals with Easterners. Either he works for them, or the other way around. Either way, I'm fairly sure these are the same folks. He said I can wait "2 - 3 weeks or so". I asked him to cancel the order. Problem is, now I'm REALLY Jonesin' for a PAM now and have a couple straps on the way. Did I read the DSN blog correctly in that he is also not able to source the swan neck movement, but you can still order from him with Asian movements? If so, I may have to find a nice solid back version to order. I have noticed something about his cases though that bothers me. It looks to me like his CGs don't fit nice and snug to the case. Is that true? If so, is it possible to machine (or file or sand) them to fit better? Or maybe I'll wait...I don't know. Any advice? That is my understanding. DSN is out of the Swiss swan neck movements and will not be getting any more. Right now even his Asian movements are pretty sparse, from what I can tell from his emails... You are definitely right, but unfortunately all rep sandwich dials are like this. Some of Davidson are even worse.... That's why I prefer the more accurate sausage dials. But since Ti cases are getting really rare, I would say just go for it. You can always have the movement replaced afterwards if you like. Or even change the H-series dial and movement for the G-series dial and movement with correct dagger and swan neck (check Angus). Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
