They all have the wrong dial, wrong hands, wrong caseback, etc. etc. Best thing to do is make one. Take one MBW 1680 and add the following: -5517 dial with proper T marking -Yao custom MOD sword hands -T-19 Superdome -Genuine 5517 bezel insert -Pre-o ring'd Triplock crown and tube -Custom engraving on the caseback -Fit 316 SS bars to the lugs, solder over and polish -Replace the 2836 with a 2846 Add some wear and patina to the case, polish out and repeat for that aged worn look. Btw, how do you remove the crown? and if you actually looked at dealers websites and listings you can see that they are the exact same model from the same factory. So if i were you, i'll read alot more. ubiquitous Posted June 21, 2006 Report Share Posted June 21, 2006 The engraving is easy to fix. Just add the necessary lines to complete the words (e.g. POLEX to ROLEX). Since the case is stamped as a 5513, it's almost even better, since there have been some documented cases that started as a 5513, and were converted by the MOD to 5517 spec...
