From a gen owner point of view unfortunately Panerai moves to a higher level of customer clientelle which many normal collectors will not afford to follow.

The new watches are very nice contemporary models away from the historic heritage of the brand.

For the rep community I think that now with the Inhouse movements and the complicated fixtures on the dials etc etc.. it will be difficult for the rep makers to keep up.

Is it just me, or do the new auto 44mm luminors have a thicker crown just like the historics now?

Yes that's how they look but you cannot judge from the existing photos. We have to see better ones..

Cheers V

Destro PVD Sandwich Dial Historic ....now there's something that can only have been created for the collectors.

You could probably double your investment overnight if you ever managed to obtain one.

48mm Rad's look nice - but not overly keen on the busy dials of some of the others.

26 re-issue would be the one I'd like to own ...

Quite disappointed with the releases... Panerai is obviously trying to move away from its roots towards a high-end market... leaving behind the traditional look and movements.. concentrating on in-house movements...

I think the new contemporary designs are too complicated and 'trying too hard' so to speak...... sometimes simple is beautiful...

And the prices they put on the new line-up.... what are mark-up!! Even the 6497-based PAM26 re-issue starts at USD9000... guess how high it will go in a matter of months from its release... USD15000??? All the in-house movement based watches will start at least from USD13000 and up..... I will rather spend the money on a nice pre-A....

I just cannot see Panerai being a high-end watch company like AP or PP... its 'simply utilitarian' and ' military tool' beginnings are just too deeply ingrained...

Just my 4 cents... (I like number 4.... ;)...)

If it is indeed a thicker crown, I really like the 297. Not feeling anything else for now though from the new releases. But I do still really like the 233.
