llsteve80
My biggest pet peeve in written grammar is misuse of the apostrophe. It is meant for possesion, not pluralization.
SubFrog
This WORLD needs help with the "I" and "ME" syndrome. This is the ultimate of all grammatical errors today...I hear this on TV and radio from newscasters to DJ's...and everyone else. "This is a picture of John and I walking in the park" WRONG!!!!!!!!!! "This is a picture of John and me walking in the park" CORRECT!!!!!!!! You wouldn't say "This is a picture of "I" walking in the park" ...you would say me. I even saw where someone wrote: "That's Ross and I's cat in that picture" - WHAT???? I's????? DUUUUUUHHH! Drives me nuts!
Pugwash
My biggest pet peeve in written grammar is misuse of the apostrophe. It is meant for possesion, not pluralization. It's usually meant for possesion (sic), not pluralisation. There are some cases where it can be used to pluralise. "A's are the highest scores" is as correct as "The highest scores are As" due to the capitalisation of the first A. If you're going to be that pedantic about apostrophes, you'd better be prepared to be right.
rek001
OK, I'll play - this is an old one, what about the valley girl inflection, raising one's voice at the end of a sentence so it sounds like a question? You know, the OMG! syndrome? Lately I've had to go see a few specialists for a medical problem, a few turned out to be quite young and female, and it's disconcerting to have someone discuss your problem with you and feel like you are talking to a sorority girl. It seems that this way of speaking has infiltrated the professional world. I've heard some young guys talk like this but, it seems to be a mostly female dysfunction.
