Watchmeister Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Folks may have already discovered this but here is the first I have seen of the recent Panerai gen upgrades on reps. The first rep with the new strap changing system. I suspect the new deployant buckle will not be far behind. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=80142&hl= Just when we thought Panerai reps were down for the count.
StormTooper4 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 WWWOOOOOHHHHHOOOOOOOO and there's more, best news I've heard all day, there is a PAM god after all ST4
rolli Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 pam308 - luminor regatta chrono 2008. here some gen images. rolli
rolex001 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Wow, if that's not a copy of IWC's bracelet and strap attachment system...
TK471 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Very, very cool. The price looks amazing. Crown guard and crown are really well done.
mjmurphy926 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Pretty cool, but the watch on the link is still missing another new feature...The roller CG lever. Notice on Rolli's pix the end of the lever where it contacts the crown? I would love to see that on a rep probably more so than the quick release strap, but that would mean they would have to get the crown/CG mounting correct at the factory. I have never had a PAM rep that didn't need some massaging to get it right. I'd really like to see both new features before I'd buy.
ubiquitous Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Not a huge surprise, since IWC and Panerai are both under the Richemont umbrella Cross pollination between IWC and Panerai seems to be a sort of regular thing these days, no?
sssurfer Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Wow, great! And yes, I too wonder about the lever roller...
ravishingrick Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 They did the strap changing system but not the crown guard lever roller system...
rolli Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 this model is a favorite for my collection. but i think the caseback engraving is a bit wrong, the other little wrong details are not so important. rolli
boo Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Gen owners seemed to be reporting a lot of problems with the strap changing system, e.g. the lock not engaging and pins slipping out from the case while being worn (although I had a gen PAM 48 where it worked perfectly). If Richemont couldn't get it right, I worried that the rep factories won't either.
docblackrock Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Meh, is that it? Uninspiring mechanism, uninspiring model. Gen and rep. Still, some new PAMs must be on the way, a sign of things to come perhaps?
Ztech Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Finally a super Pam??? I've heard that they got a pic of Bigfoot wearing one in the forest.

When you watch falls off your wrist because the pin slipped... just say "damn Richemont and their lack of quality control"!
rolli Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 new images uploaded. rolli http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=80142&hl=
fishgodeep Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Progress on PAM reps....Hoorah!!! Not my cup of tea as the dial doesn't look right but very promising. I have heard the roller CG is being made so watch this space...??! FGD
