What if? The Ultimate Crackdown

This topic is based on possibility, but not likely. You may feel like you are reading science fiction but bear with me,

The situation:

Luxury watch companies decide to put forth a greater effort to curb illegal replicas because some began to notice significant impact on their luxury and high-end watch sales. They make a convincing case that this damages the economies of several countries, and that these governments should help them put the smackaroo on replicas. They try to make it sound more like a pending financial epidemic, complete with CNN interviews with economists and such to add an air of legitimacy and urgency.

The next president is pressured to help promote this in the US and many other countries to prevent a "luxury goods crisis" such as happened with the financial institutions of many countries, especially it's friends.

The watch companies shell out a lot of $$$ to lobbyists to help pass strict legislation against counterfeiting WORLDWIDE. Since money talks, this action takes shape quickly, and there is a crackdown on buyers, dealers, manufacturers, the skilled people that service them (knowingly or unknowingly). Rewards are being offered to members of the public (especially those who have purchased replicas before) for information leading to arrests, convictions, etc. It is even stated that this must be taken even more seriously than the embargo against Cuba.

Long story short. It REALLY becomes a hassle to seek out a replica. Not just "my package is in customs." Swift legal action, fines, increased busts. The governments start treating replicas like they are dope and guns. It's suddenly not a game anymore.

What do YOU do at this point? Get out, or take the chance of being treated like a gun-runner or drug pusher for what you consider a hobby?

Barring one or two watches, which I could live without, I've already got what I want in my collection, so I'd probably just call it a day and stick with what I've got. Of course, I'd probably set up a little 'watch-porn dungeon', like Stephen Fry's character in V For Vendetta, where I could go to wear my illicit watches in safety  Of course, to maintain the charade, I'd have to force myself to wear a digital watch in public, and claim ignorance of what 'manual wind' even means  I'm sure that, even with my mind numbed with Prozium, I'd still appreciate the simple functionality of my PAMs ^_^

I CERTAINLY didn't expect this!!!!

You presuppose a spam-free world, which is about as unlikely as a rep-free world.

Noooooo....

Not "Rep-free" just like there is no such thing as a "Drug-free" but putting the two on the same level would be intense don't you think.

BTW,

People have gone to prison for spamming too. No joke.

What did you have in mind, amigo? Visions of me 'wearing' a watch 'Captain Coons-style' to get it across the border? ;) At the end of the day, I've got pretty much every thing I want watch wise. Sure, there are a few pieces I'd like to aquire to round off my collection, but other than that, I'm pretty much done in the buying stakes, so I'd just keep what I've already aquired well and truly hidden, as I don't fancy getting 'black-bagged' in the middle of the night, or having my door kicked in by the Grammaton Clerics  Time for my interval...

Well it would actually be a loss for the gen makers for me. Several of my reps have led to the purchase of gens. There's probably a few more that I have that will also get replaced with gens. Without the reps to try out and grow on me that might not happen anymore.

Then you have to be the Replica Ambassador to the luxury goods nations! It is your job during this dark, dark, time to bring the replicas to the light!!!!

We have your back. In the bunkers.

Of course if they turn on you for reward money----DISAVOWED.

Quite the imagintaion I must say, and as far fetched as the idea is i'll run with it..

I would risk it, there is no crime when you have done nothing wrong in your own judgment.

As long as drug dealers and hookers walk this earth, we will have acces to any and all our whims regardless of how illicit they may be...but certainly with a fee.

Ok I will try my post again.

Here at RWG Headquarters we have gone to great lengths to cover for this eventuality.

We started by making our office building very secret, hush hush and sneaky.

Our front door...

The escalators to our second floor offices...

Admins office balcony (the lower one)....

The back stairs....

And of course the fire escape...

For security purposes we added a super sneaky video system....

bb8dea111ay6.jpg

And we have all been trained to stand close and talk in whispers...even in the toilet...

Even our banking has been made super hard to access....

However if all these measures fail and we do get raided we have one last fail safe.

We ask them to wait on the back veranda.......just in time for the city bound train....

So yes we think we have secured our future in this hobby. ;)

Wake up, people! This already actually happened. You are just living in a fictional, virtual world where reps are relatively easy to get.

Knock knock, Neo.
