iflylow78
was looking at the the 6263 from King. What are the flaws it is listed as having a Lemanian 1847 but it is probably a seagul (not great at picking them on site) - if that is the case what does the dial at 6 actually do if anything. She says that all function and the last email says it is running seconds. on the 6263 the running seconds should be at 9 here are some photos
piratedzeus
It is running hours. but on some new vintage daytonas with this movement they freezed the subdial . See Joshs website... better infos
ubiquitous
Just as piratedzeus has said- That 6:00 subdial counts running hours and it runs continuously on this model, regardless if the stopwatch is running or not (the genuine 6263 with V72 does not run unless the stopwatch function is engaged). As for other flaws; a few that I can see from a quick look- -Dial isn't great on this one. Poor print quality and font; coronet is positioned well, but is aesthetically incorrect. -Hands are far too short. -Case- Pushers are not asymmetrical, lugs look to be 20mm and based on the distance of the subdials to rehaut and considering this is a Lemania movement, it would appear that the case is 40mm as well, instead of the correct 37mm. -Pushers incorrect. -Crown incorrect. -Bezel is not the correct acrylic insert (but rather looks to be applied printing). Hope this helps.

iflylow78
So that really is a Lemanian? Ok enough info I will pass on this watch. Really want to build a 6263 with a V72 but can't justify the required cash to do so in this environment.... Still wanted a 6263 though That is the watch I could have bought for $1130 new when I bought my gen 16800 Sub. Went with the sub as it was hard to find at the time and was an automatic and had the sapphire crystal..... Still always had a soft spot for that chrono though. Still have my 16800 though and it is near perfect.
ubiquitous
For a better 6263/6265, go for a DW. Correct dimensions, and compatible with gen parts. Or, depending on how much of a budget you have for a watch project, you can build a V72 6263 as well. Bit more expensive, but the results are quite nice. I use the term so as not to confuse the situation, but Lemania is incorrect nomenclature for this movement.

As I mentioned in the last post I would like to build one but can not justify the minimum of $2500 to $3000 at this time - I have seen mention of the DW watch. Where do I find it? I would be very interested as I should be able to upgrade it to what I really want over time Would be nice if I could utilize one of the vintage movements I have listed under the "what are these" on the Movement sub forum. I believe you identified one as Val 7734 - I believe it is actually a 7733 as it does not have a date function on it. The other one is still a mystery again thank you for your help - And again if some one could point towards a source of the DW watches.
ubiquitous
There is also the EE 6263/5 variant as well... 7750 based, so the caseback is thicker, but all the correct dimensions; 37mm case, 19mm lugs, asymmetric pushers, etc.
tmg
IFL, You can also see if DW still sells the 7750 powered version of his 6263, I believe those are less than $2,000. I think you can find him on ioffer selling parts/kits. A lower cost option is to build a VJ23 powered DW 6263 instead, the hour subdial would be frozen (but be sure to use a DW mystery mvmt case for the VJ23, the VJ72 kit has slightly different inner dimensions I understand). I had mine built for under $1200 including a gen T21 crystal and 78350 bracelet, granted that was about 2 years ago. If you get an entire mystery mvmt DW you can use everything except the hands for the VJ23 mvmt, which takes VJ72 hands. I hope that helps! iflylow78
still looking - this may be a stupid question but it looks like he is just selling parts at the moment also seems prices have really jumped in the past 3 months

iflylow78
ok one more stupid question(s) why the sudden price jump - i do really want one as they seem to be my best option but it seems between case/val 72/and dial i am looking at about $2800 to $3000 which is more than I want to bite on right now. If there is a good chance prices will fall or remain even I will wait. If however this time next year i am looking at $5,000 I might just go ahead and bite. I would also imagine a good bracelet will be pushing close to a grand as well.

freddy333
Ask DW if he has any more of his (assembled) A7750-powered 6263s with asymmetrical pushers? These use most of the same hardware from his case kit & if you convert the movement over to manual-wind & swap some of the oem parts for gen parts (crystal, crown/tube, pushers, bracelet), you can end up with a quite respectable 6263 & what I consider to be the Best Buy in the rep world

freddy333
Indeed... Nice Cosmo, F333! Thanks, Ubi. If DW could get the factory to install an A7760 (or convert the existing automatic 7750 over to manual-wind spec & fit it with the appropriate caseback) & retail these for $350-$400, I think he would have the rep world's 'killer app'. DW is adjusting accordingly, I'd say DW was the best value for quality (not the mystery mvmt model) around before he raised prices. You can still find 78350 and 7205 bracelets between $300-$500. Finding the proper 571 end links on them is another story and will cost you more.

freddy333
A little preview... The only thing more beautiful than a gaggle of DWs in pieces..........is a gaggle of DWs in completed form (with gen parts fitted where applicable). I hope you have alot of hair (so you will have enough left over after pulling most of it out during all that construction). Good luck & to quote Bluto, 'My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.'
