stilty Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 I know he is more of a vintage Rollie man, but this looks to suit him as well... The Omega "Alaska Project". Limited Edition Good for temperatures from -148 to +260 http://basel.watchprosite.com/?show=nblog....5586&fi=636

Nanuq Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Ewwwwwwww FWIW, I have never had a watch freeze up, and I used to work on the north slope in the corrosion control group, outdoors, in wind chills frequently down to -150F or -170F. Never had a watch quit working... Mostly because you keep it under your coatsleeve! But thanks for the link!
Defender110 Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 get this watch just to make all the pam guys with their 48mm's jealous! :-)
Nanuq Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 There ya go!! I knew there was a good purpose for it! Looking more closely at the funky red case, it's pretty neat how they do the clamshell thing with the remote pushers. But still the crystal is exposed to heat loss? THAT just doesn't make sense.
Nightstroker Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Looks like the red clam shell keeps the SS case within a safe temperature range, regardless of how cold or hot the environment is. Since the crystal is attached to the case it all balances out....so to speak.
