sssurfer
Here are some pics of my 028 project (Warren, it seems that I have been faster than you in the end! ): PVD --> done (by Palpatine) Relume --> done (by Finepics) Crown --> temporary (Lello's crown -- to be replaced with a Palp one as soon as they will be available in PVD) Cyclops --> done (by The Watchmen) Loose lever fix --> done (by myself) Adequate strap --> done (by Taikonaut) -- but open to suggestions (see below) New datewheel --> to do (by Finepics hopely) AR coating --> to do (by Finepics hopely) For the strap I wanted something different from the brown straps usually matched with PVD. After some search I found something I really liked. I may assure you that under the sunlight it is a beauty, so rich in gray reflections. Let's begin with three portraits: Then a longer, vertical portrait to show the strap a little more: The inevitable wrist shot: And another wrist shot to display more of the strap again: And now, another possible choice for the strap (so far, I am heading towards the first one, but which do you prefer?): Last but not least, a close up to show the new cyclops (I can read the date, finally!). Ok, maybe it is not perfect yet, but I am confident that it will even furtherly improve with a new datewheel font. Currently the font is so large that when the date is made of two large numbers - as in 25 - the numbers touch the sides of the date window. This was a minor flaw with the original poor magnification, but now that magnification is adequate it became perceptible.
leitztozeiss
Holy crap - look at that date mag. What an excellent result!!!!!!!!!!

thomasng
I think you might be closer than you think..... I was told that the A series 028 did not have AR coating.
swdivad
Very nice!!! I want one. As for straps, I think the stingray goes pretty well, not sure if I like the grey If you don't want the tan with pvd combo (I like it very much, great contrast), you may want to try an oxblood from Europelli, I think that would go beautifully!! Wear it well
sssurfer
I think you might be closer than you think..... I was told that the A series 028 did not have AR coating. Wow, thanks for the info! Uhm, I wonder whether I'd better heading to the closeness with gen, or easiness of use and readability... also superluminova is not supposed to be on a 028A, is it? you may want to try an oxblood from Europelli, I think that would go beautifully!! Thanks for the lead! I'll check. @all: thanks for your kind words and appreciations!
Chronus
Great one, I'll want to do the same once datewheel and crown are available.

Indyclmbr
Fantastic. I have the crown and the cyclops is on the way. This is exactly, minus the PVD, what I want to do with my 063. Great project. Thanks for sharing! Climb on.
thomasng
I lost one of my cyclops unfortunately, and now can't put it on the 028. Otherwise, I'm planning to do the exact same, and use a Jimmy Fu CG and a Palp crown to make it perfect. I have my 029 out for mods at the moment. Finepics
Just to confirm that there is no AR on the 28.
V
I like this watch A LOT.. From those straps neither is perfect in my eyes but the stingray seems better.
Finepics
Marco - hate to tell you mines been done for ages - Got it on a nice whisky colour 24/24 strap with a Pre A logo buckle in PVD!!! One thing I am curious about is if you have removed the small lens that is on the movt covering the date. Your mag looks huge compared to mine!! Estaban
Looks great. Crown will make it complete. I would look into a black stingray with white pearls. A titanium colored carbon broadband (or black) from Europelli would look very nice as well.
Watchmeister
Looks great. Mine is done to the exact same extent. It is on a brown Incursore 5218 though. And yes I have the same magnification on the date and so he did leave the second lens on it. I have a GMT without the second lens and it looks like you would expect. sssurfer
Just to confirm that there is no AR on the 28. Thanks, Mark! One thing I am curious about is if you have removed the small lens that is on the movt covering the date. Your mag looks huge compared to mine!! yes I have the same magnification on the date and so he did leave the second lens on it. I have a GMT without the second lens and it looks like you would expect. Well, actually magnification IS huge! It did not even come to my mind to have the small lens removed. Now I wonder what the result would be if I do it. Mark, did you remove the small lens? In this case, would you post a pic? (Else, the only reason I can think for the difference in mag is that your 028 and mine have different rehauts between the crystal and the date window -- as you know, even a fraction of mm would be significant... even a different thickness of the teflon gasket on which the crystal sits). Warren, did you post pics of your GMT? (Or was it the watch in The Zigmeister's pics?) you may want to try an oxblood from Europelli, I think that would go beautifully!! Looks great. Crown will make it complete. I would look into a black stingray with white pearls. A titanium colored carbon broadband (or black) from Europelli would look very nice as well. I had a look on Europelli's site on both those straps, but I got soon lost and was unable to locate them. Pls, do you have a direct link to the straps you were referring to? @all: Thanks all again for your suggestions, appreciation and comments! MAHLER
I almost almost make again a thought on the PANERAI but without problems with customs (my second packet has been taken....). SSS because we don't open a factory of panerai? Considering that the actual factories involve from idiots with stupid defects .... Watchmeister
The GMT is the one Ziggy used for the how to.
sssurfer
SSS because we don't open a factory of panerai? Considering that the actual factories involve from idiots with stupid defects .... Nice idea! But considering workmanship costs and police policy we should also emigrate to China in order to do that... @kruzer00: thanks, Warren. I was supposing it, but unsure.
