Bazz Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 I have had some minor issues with the movement that came in this one over last few months, nothing that cant be fixed but decided the least it deserved was new eta 2892. I have put on a few gen parts on it over the last couple of years and it is still my number 1 (I know some people think the 007 bits on it are a bit naff but I cant help but like this one).
By-Tor Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Wow!!! That's a great watch. And wonderful pictures as usual.
fitmic Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Beautiful!!! What parts have been changed? Bezel?
r11co Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Mmmm - gorgeous. Still one of the best reps ever made!!
robertk Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Great photo's. I still have to resist wearing that one every day.
Bignasty Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 Amazing rep! I wish these were still available. Wear it well and if you decide to sell let me know! Jon
Bazz Posted August 10, 2006 Author Report Posted August 10, 2006 Thanks guys @ fitmic I have changed the dial and hands, crown and tube, movement and case clamps. Anyone who has one of these should check the case clamps as mine had two stuck on top of each other per side as they were not long enough. I have heard of others with this model having this problem and one side of my movement came free then had a clamp floating around, I ordered replacements for mine from here Click Me!
vric Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 (edited) Correct casing, correct pearl.. it would look genuine where did you get the bezel insert/pearl ? Edited August 10, 2006 by vric
Bazz Posted August 10, 2006 Author Report Posted August 10, 2006 The insert and pearl are as they came, I have no plans to change them as not sure they would fit and cost waay to much
emuozz Posted August 10, 2006 Report Posted August 10, 2006 It looks fabulous I’m impressed if you didn’t told us it was a rep I wouldn’t be able to tell, and beautiful pics also. Thanks for sharing

Bazz Posted August 12, 2006 Author Report Posted August 12, 2006 Thanks MVB, There seems to be a glut of them posted over the last couple of weeks, but I am just glad to be able to wear it again after a couple of months of looking at it being in bits and pieces.

Bazz Posted August 25, 2006 Author Report Posted August 25, 2006 My 007 came with the chinese seagull movement, it ended up with a few problems over time and long story short is that I ended up replacing it with a ETA 2892. I thought it would be a good chance to look at some of the differences as there always seems to be a lot of uncertainty over this movement. The top picture is the chinese movement. The easiest way to tell if its a chinese one is is the regulator is riveted where as the eta can be adjusted and removed. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with the chinese ones as you very rarely hear of problems but looking at some of the picas of supposed eta 2892 (some are even stamped) they all have riveted regulators. I have never seen a ETA movement with a riveted regulator especially in one of their high end movents such as the 2892.
eddhead Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Correct casing, correct pearl.. it would look genuine where did you get the bezel insert/pearl ? you can find inserts on e-bay for approx. USD 17-25.00. Raymond Lee Jewlers is a power seller that offers inserts and bezels http://www.raymondlee.com/contact.php. supermanx Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 I just got one from Raymond Lee, makes a marked improvement, the rep bezel is way too bright. The real insert is very close to the color of the dial.
jeff g Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 SMP & 007 - Black bezels I love these watches.
melvin.x Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 I ordered a blue bezel insert from Raymond Lee a few weeks ago and it looked like this (on the left): Is it only me who thinks that it is even purple and not blue ? I´m still searching for a decent bezel insert, but did not find it at ebay. I would appreciate any suggestions... Greetings DJ
Bazz Posted September 2, 2006 Author Report Posted September 2, 2006 (edited) Yea the insert maybe appears a little bright in the pics due to the lighting, it is darker under normal light. The pearls quite good on it though. Edited September 3, 2006 by Bazz
watchski Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 That is one KILLER watch.. my goodness!! I´m still searching for a decent bezel insert, but did not find it at ebay. I would appreciate any suggestions... Greetings DJ That bezel is disgusting..I would light it on fire and burn it and throw it in the trash!!
melvin.x Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 That bezel is disgusting..I would light it on fire and burn it and throw it in the trash!! I preferred to send it back for a refund...
watchski Posted September 3, 2006 Report Posted September 3, 2006 I preferred to send it back for a refund... I guess that seems appropriate as well. I think i might have had too much tequila when i made that comment.
