Surrogate case for my 1570 and 1680 dial.

I'm still working on my 1680 project. I had an excellent case, but wanted one with a custom serial so I sold it to another member. Now I'm stuck playing the waiting game to get myself another case.

Now I have the movement dial and hand set but no home for them, so I decided to a safe place would be to keep them in an old datejust case!

The movement is a Rolex 1570. I just got it back from a complete service and had a radial silver date disc installed and a new mainspring for good measure. The dial is a genuine RSC replacement dial with luminova markers as are the hands. These babies glow like a torch!

I think it looks pretty cool! Just don't mind the YG crown with the WG bezel, or the specs of dust on the crystal. This is just for fun!

That looks like a mini-sub right there...

Just wondering if you are getting a customized case from Phong. Since your dial is gen, the diameter should be 27mm. So there are no fitment issues right? :)

I need a 1570 calibre but am skeptical about finding a gen dial to go with it.... still on the oldskool trail of BMWs...

yeah, I know. I'm crazy. But the guy that bought it really wanted it, so I let it go. I did get another case with the serial I wanted, but it has a problem with the tube hole, so I am sending it back.

But back to the serial. I want to use the serial from the DJ case I salvaged the movement from. This way I know the origin of the serial and it is a match with the COSC on the movement. In hindsight, I should have sold the case, AFTER, I found a new one.

I do have a smooth bezel for the case. Very hard to find bezel for the case as most were fluted. I also have a SS crown. But I'm not planning on wearing it anywhere. Just needed a home for the movement and dial.
