ShawnBeever
I am trying to get some more information about the A.Schild movement AS 2063 as a replacement for a ETA 2836 in an MBW 1665. The reason being the date wheel appears to rotate in the same direction as a 1575, and it appears to have a plain bearing on the rotor weight which would make it a lot quieter than the ETA also the bpm is a lot closer to the 1575 original. This is the info I have A.Schild movement AS 2063 produced between 1969 and 1978 self winding, hand winding is possible center-seconds date-function with quick-set 21.600 a/h 45 hrs power reserve 11.5 lignes/25,6 mm 5,2 mm high 17/21/25 jewels, depending on version white date wheel incabloc shock protection But need to know what diameter hands the movement takes, stem height and winding stem thread. Anyone got the above information or know where I can find it or even if this has been done before.
slickdick
I've been down that road, in my case the rep eta (2836) hands where straight fit, except for the seconds hand which was too large to fit the AS movement. The stem height is marginally the same, no problems in that department. Can't help you on the stem thread though.
ShawnBeever
Thanks, how did the rotor noise compare with the ETA.
slickdick
I can't tell, i bought an ETA 2842 movement, and sold the AS. Edited June 23, 2009 by slickdick
ubiquitous
I've gone the AS path before (no pun intended for the networking geeks) and note the same as slickdick- Hour and minute hands were a straight fit; the AS seconds hand is .23 instead of .25, I believe (don't recall off the top of my head). My intention was to fit a gen 1570 silver brushed datewheel to this movement, but there wasn't enough clearance to get it to fit. I ended up going with an ETA 2846 instead... Tribal
Same to me in the past. I tried to install a gen silver datewheel also with no luck Also find second and minute hand was paininthe ass. So I decided for Eta again.
Star69
why so complicated ? there are nice silver gen Rolex DWs that fit the ETA : think older cheers, Frank
ShawnBeever
Looks like the date wheel from a manual wind rolex calibre 1215 as used in the 6694 etc. I have always wondered if one of these date wheels would but never been able to find one. automatico
The stem threads will be tap 10 (.9mm) more than likely (same as modern rolex). If not, you can buy a regular threaded tap 10 stem for it.
