  1. My good friend Denimhead has a mate in the EU that does amazing mods. This modder decided to hang up his hat, so Denim grabbed his last two pieces. Out of the blue, Denim sent one to me and it arrived last night. I can't get over how nice this thing is! It's just over-the-top. So today me and the Big Crown went out for a snowshoe. He seems to like it here in the Arctic pretty well! And now back at the car. Thank you M! I am completely blown away by your generosity. Humbled.

  2. This piece has undergone a little calendar wheel gear repair (nice snap at 12 and quick set at last!) and an install of a vintage crimped 703 crown (gen tube already installed). Tested to 10 ATM and ready to go..... I think I may have made a mistake installing this crown, as when you look at it in the enlarged Macro pics - it looks quite battered! I had a Gen 704 installed before, which probably matched the look I was after better - 1978 5.3 M series back from the RSC some years back with: Gen modern service insert Superluminova service dial Service crown etc etc The new crown is now aged and out of synch with the rest of the watch - what do you think? Sharing a score of Blackberry Curve quickies. 1979 Snowflake and 1978 GWSD Vintage crimped wrapped 703 with tell tale signs of outer skin wear And guess what? Look closely..........correct GWSD case back and bracelet set up A few spare parts left after the movement service - where do these go? :undecided: Hope you like it as much as I do............

  3. Generally refers to the sealing system on the case tube. underline is a twinlock - 2 seal points and 3 x dots is a triplock - 3 seal points. Triplock is generally on the larger 7mm crown series realting to sports watches and divers. This thread will give you an insight into the triplock crown family http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/129113-rolex-crown-and-tube-help/ If you google twinlock and or triplock rolex crown you will find all you need. Hope that gets you started.

  4. Little update here... After one week wearing the watch I am very surprised but the good time keeping of this 2824-2 clone. Currently, without adjusting the time for a week, it's running 9 seconds faster It's quite a surprise because I read some very bad experiences with these clone movements. Prior to receive it, I contacted my dear friend Andy to ask him to put my gen ETA 2824-2 into this watch. Well, I don't see the point at all now!

  9. This one came together over a period of time. V3 Noob case set... re-polished per member w0lf's suggestions. Crown fine-tuned and re-polished as well. Case back is an HF V1 with accurate OP logo, Seagull movement (thanks m3amg) and Noob V3 hands (thanks Tanya). Dial is... well it needed some restoration as the edge had some paint missing (mostly between 5-7) and traces of handling marks on the surface. Luckily it cleaned up pretty well. The 2nd gen Dirk strap was re-stitched between the buckle and keeper to 1st gen spec. I love my logo beater... Crown teeth cleaned up and re-polished... Restored... Strap re-stitched. Only thread I had was white, so I had to try and match the original thread color. Used some watercolor paints and a fine brush.

  11. According to a 2008 analysis of NYPD firearms discharge data done by the New York Times, between 1996-2006 officers hit their intended target about 34 percent of the time. Another analysis, published in 2006 by the RAND Center on Quality Policing at the request of Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, found that in the years 1998-2006, the average hit ratio for officers involved in a shooting where the subject does not fire back was 30 percent. During a gunfight, where the target is shooting at officers, the study reported that the hit rate falls to just 18 percent. The Times reported that in 2006-2007, Los Angeles police officers hit their targets between 27 and 29 percent of the time, respectively. There is no reliable national data on hit ratio. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_1...shot-accuracy/ Those statics mean that if you shot at one bad guy with a 10 round magazine, you will hit him 3 times if you shot as well as a police officer when the assailant is not shooting at you. If they are shooting at you, you only hit him 2 times out of 10 if you are equal to a cop. A recent incident had a lady shoot a robber 5 times in the head and neck with a .38, and he was still functional. He drove away. A 10 round mag is not enough to ensure survival against multiple assailants. Or even one determined one. So, even if the 2nd amendment were about self defense, 10 round mags are a bad idea. The 10 round limit will not hamper a spree killer, they will just wear a tactical vest with a lot of mags or use an illegal one. I bet they don't mind breaking another law. I can change one out in a second or so with out even lowering my weapon. However, when someone breaks in, I will not have time to gear up. I will have to use what is in my weapon. You can bet I want more than 10 rounds when the lives of my family are riding on my defensive capability. The same thing applies on the street. I am better off drawing a pistol that has enough ammo for the job with out reloading. I bet Obama's secret service agents have more than 10 rounds in their weapons. Even Bloomberg's 5 full time body guards have more than 10 rounds in their pistols. Heck, even the full time guards in the private school his daughters go to have full size magazines. And those guards are not secret service. They have been there for a long time.

  13. Since you have every detail like the Serial Number right, you also need vintage Sub papers. Of course not for any "bad" purposes but simply to make a perfect forgery. http://i49.tinypic.com/2hobk9k.jpg http://i46.tinypic.com/11vscu8.jpg
