  1. hey all, didnt feel like spending 10k for this watch so i went with a Sillix "high quality" version and added a gen dial and crown. The crown it came with tarnished and generally looked like [censored]. In order to add the dial I had to remove the feet and glue, in order to add the crown I had to install a gen tube, surprisingly the case accepted this. whatcha think?

  6. I have. I have a fairly unique background in that I both served in the military and have fairly extensive experience with explosives, and then went on to be a scientist and hold a PhD in physics. All of the idiocy you spouted is irrelevant non sequitur. The fact that you can't comprehend how stupid those issues are to even voice tells me pretty much everything I need to know about you. Now can we keep the 9/11 truther idiocy out of this forum?

  9. Hi, I like the PVD Piccard Edition DSSD, its rough, big, heavy and tough, not instantly recognizable as a Rolex and the PVD doesn´t wear off easily. The HE valve is silvery and should be black coated, rest is fine, can´t tell if that version has the correct micro-adjustable clasp. If You go for the silvery one this is the best in the lower price-range: http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_8&products_id=10334 Only other option imho is the Seadweller 16600 classic model without Cyclops and Trusty has a good one, this: http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_8&products_id=10934 Think its correct to try one out because the attractions of the watch only come when You have it for some time. correct clasp DSSD and 16600 Seadweller wristshot 16600 Seadweller

  11. Thank you again to all of you guys, its a big pleasure to read your advice's and suggestions. It is better to know what you want, but at the same time it is also better to ask someone experienced. Actually, while I was thinking what kind of Panerai replica to choose, I received a present from my older brother, brand new, authentic ORIS I am more than happy. P.S: But I am still want to buy my first replica, lol

  13. In the spirit of being an honest individual... I "honestly" thought the first post the OP made was a joke. But after reading several of his condescending responses it's clear to me, as others have stated, he has some serious trust issues. To OP: spend more time using the search function of this forum and spend less time posting. It's painfully clear you've done no research of your own. Come to your own conclusions about our hobby. There have been thousands of newbs before you that have asked the same questions. This community is built on trust. If you can't see that then this hobby isn't for you.

  14. Not a fantasy, rolex doesn't make any watches in PVD however several aftermarket boutiques do modify rolex ProHunter being one of these boutiques. They are rare and sell at a premium but not a fantasy.

  15. As far as why get one if he doesn't like them I'm going with his suggestion that it is size based. I don't like the DSSD as it seems out of proportion to me, but maybe he would like it. Yes the truth of the matter is if you just don't like them you won't likely get much use out if the watch but who amung us hasn't gotten a cheapie just to try it? I got my first Pam on a whim and now I really like them and have moved on to get others. I cam to the rep world looking for a rolex (who has the best sub?) and now have sold my rolex reps and my only reps are Pam 177, a PloProf and a Breitling Abyss. To an extent reps are a great way to try different style watches without blowing big bucks that the gens would cost.

  16. The OP sounds like someone who bought a watch from one of those AAAA+ Rolex reps , made in Switzerland, etc, etc, etc. beautiful photos, unfortunately they are a genuine watch, probably stolen from someone's website. Paid a big price and received a cheap Canal Street rep. Most all of us who have been around for a while have seen these rip off sites, and unless you are able to read between the lines, and realize that the dealer is a scammer, and the "forum" is just a bunch of shills posting about the wonderful watch they bought. Nary a negative post, no one saying, "the watch I received was not even close to what I saw on the dealers website" simply because the dealer is either creating the posts, or deleting ever negative one.not the case here. As long as you stay civil, you are free to complain or criticize any transaction with a dealer here. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  17. I really can't quite comprehend the idea of having one just to say you have a Rolex in your collection? I seriously doubt that it will get much wrist time, since you don't like the brand to start with. I have never felt the need to add a watch to my "collection" just to say I have one, and especially if it were a brand that I didn't like at all! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  19. If it ain't broke... Imho it can go both ways depending on the way the watch is treated and how much it has been worn. I have worked on quite a few rolex 1520/30/60/70 over the years and I have seen them from shot to like new in watches made within a few years of each other. Usually the case will tell the story of how well a watch has been cared for but not always. A couple examples... I am working on an old 1560 and it looks to have been apart quite a few times because the screw heads show some damage and you can see where the sweep second wheel has been pulled off a few times by the marks on the plate under the spokes etc but it is still in very good condition overall with no problems. I would say this is an average 1560 that has been serviced a few times, four or five times maybe. I know it had at least one new balance staff because I did it (staff was broken). It has been apart a few times but is still good for many years to come, maybe because of the service done to it over the years, maybe not...who knows? Have a 1520 hack from probably the mid 1970s to early 1980s and it appears to never have been apart, runs fine, and looks like brand new. Maybe it was in a drawer most of the time but it has not been worked on as far as I can tell. It would need c/o before wearing it but basically it is like new and since I do not have the case it came in there is no telling what kind of life it lived. Believe me, I put quite a bit of stock in the "If it ain't broke..." philosophy too but this movement definitely needs c/o even if it runs like a top. Why? Because it is dry with no oil at all showing on most parts. What will happen is: 1...the rotor axle will wear and start wobbling and the rotor will start to skip across the plate under it 1...the reversers will gum up and stop working as they should 3...balance wheel motion will get lazy because of dry pallet stones/escape wheel and balance jewels causing timekeeping to become erratic and maybe wear the balance staff pivots out 4...the main plate where the mainspring arbor runs will wear out of round from being dry (no bushing or jewel) 5...the mainspring barrel wall will get dry and the bridle (slip clutch) on the ms will not slip inside the barrel when fully wound causing autowind problems Etc, etc. Because of the potential ailments above, it needs service even if it leaves a few marks. The fast beat models (3000/3035/3130/3135) have their ailments too but mostly from no service causing autowind assembly problems and timekeeping problems from dry escapements. Otoh...I worked on a rolex 3035 a while back that was made in the 1980s and had never been cleaned. It looked dry but was Ok with no wear and the case (OPD 15010) showed a rough life. Also c/o a 1953 (L3) 14k Bulova with a 10CSC automatic movement last week that has been in my 'fix it' box since December 1996 and the case still looks like new but the movement appeared to have been worked on quite a few times. Someone really took care of this watch. The dial was faded and peeling so I had the dial refinished and now it looks like new again...at 61 years old.

  21. The issues in your original post? It's not a problem, you should have to worry about on a board like this, lets just finish off your post with that thought, it's a good community and I find we look after each other rather well despite being new myself advice given here has been beyond a mere value. It is actually much more fun buying a rep here than going into a store as it is "almost" bespoke built for you, you get so much more choice and control than buying a "brand X" with a "type Y" movement and a "Z" bracelet. When you see one post a link everyone will honestly critique it and advise.

  22. This is an honest response, but I doubt you are going to find it positive. And before you call out someone for being patronizing, you might want to re-read your own post. Are there any honest rep suppliers here? Yes, they are called trusted dealers. They are TD's because the forum members and Admins have had extensive dealings with them to know that they aren't out there trying to screw the members. Are there any perfectly copied, 1.1, AAAAAAAA++++++, Swiss made reps? No. While some watches are made from gen samples, there are none that are perfectly copied. Is there "marketing hype" in some of the TD's postings? Yes. Get over it. The TD's here are not the a$$holes online that post pictures of genuine reps and send you canal street junk. Buy from them and you will get the version of the watch you bought in as good a quality as it comes from the factory. The TD's wouldn't stay TD's if they were screwing people that way. You would also see tons of negative reviews. Are there some reps that are more accurate than others? Yes. If you take the time to read the forum you will see plenty of people posting the actual watches they have received, with discussions about the relative merits/flaws of the watch. Use the search function and read. The Milgauss pictured in Trusty's video looks like the pictures I have seen posted, so I'll assume it's of the rep and not the gen. Who's the best TD? There is no one "right" answer to that. Most can get any watch you need, but some are better at certain things than others (like communication, shipping to your particular location or updating their websites). There are many reviews of actual transactions with our TDs. Read those and you'll get a feel for who you want to deal with. Am I a good customer for rep watches? Based on this post. No. Your attitude is completely wrong, and I hope you lighten up if you want to enjoy this hobby. It takes a lot of research, patience, and putting up with things that happen (lost or damaged watches, time it takes to ship them, flaws you can't deal with, deals gone bad). Sh!t happens, and you'd better be able to deal with it without being stupid. Don't expect a lot of hand holding, and don't think you can throw down a rant like this with your 7th post and expect dealers to flock to you wanting to do business. They don't even flock to those of us that have the aforementioned traits. We have to seek them out, not the other way around. By the way, the member you just trashed is one of the most respected builders of Rolex frankens on this, or any of the other message boards. If you wanted something like a DateJust or DayDate, he would have been your guy and the watch you received would have been amazing.

  24. AJ I dunno mate. Really the correlation between cash spent and satisfaction ain't as strong as one would expect. Maybe I'm just to thrifty in my old age or just a tightass. To me the point I got in to this was cos I don't have $$ to buy gens plain and simple. I've found wanting something is often much more pleasing than actually having. Sorry to hijack your post Truman

  26. No worries , it's nice to have noob saying he's interested in a particular watch and posting a link to it. Rather than asking the same old bloody question "Whats the best replica panerai i can get ' closest to gen like "blah blah yawn yawn. At least you know what you like and want , hence my question on the date feature Please dont get me wrong here , go with what YOU like !!!!! Not what anyone else says you should like ...Getting a bargain $100 watch especially when starting out can be much fun. My first panerai was an awesome $130 Fiddy. It's was bloody great just looked ridiculous on my puny wrist. Then i caught the curse and ended up buying reps for 10x that price, which is just friggin insanity

  28. Some Options to consider Angus 104 this has a date noob 005 from josh The Staple 111 cheapest option Toro might not be a TD here , but he is pretty solid 299 with Nice date from Toro , you may want to include a leather strap but its pretty good value and a very good rep All of these are a massive step up from the one you picked well worth the extra $$$ IMHO

  29. No not at all. It's just the better versions tend towards the $300 price point rather than the manual wind versions which can be at around $200.

  32. Ya grinders are important for consistently good espresso. I've got a simple Nespresso machine with milk frother at work. I've got to say it does do quite a good job. And some of the Nespresso roasts are excellent, such as the #10 Ristretto. But for home I've got my eye on either a La Spazialle or Quick Mill. I want 20 amp dual boiler. The Quick Mill is a good looking machine: Haven't decided yet on a grinder. It's amazing how much one "needs" to invest to get something acceptable that is going to last as well! 33. If the plastic was taken off the rep it would have been harder to tell which is which If you didnt know what to look for, you would have a hard time telling them apart. The AR cyclops is pretty noticeable and its crazy how thick the lugs are on the gen. I like how the rep case looks with the thinner lugs!!! Looks like a very good rep. I wonder if you can swap the crystal for a gen like Freddy did? Dizz
