  5. Tom, I would contact misiekped first. He does fantastic work. He has done several watches for me, and I have been very satisfied with his work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. You are missing the point. Buy a Noob V3 from any trusted dealer on this board and enjoy it.... If you have too much money buy what ever modded pam from whomever you like. Without an accurate description and/or pics of the mods you probably don't even see WHAT is altered.

  9. For what it is worth... I can mod the sh!t out of reps and have done so for a lot of clientèle in the past. All my own watches (I also own a v2 111) however are practically unmodded apart from movement service, waterproof etc. Why? Because the differences between gen and rep are so small it just does not justify the time and effort to mod. No one knows of these differences and if they do they will ever come close enough to notice.... My 0.02 cents

  10. What a nice watch and a top notch strap !! I'm also looking for a new strap for my 390. Also going to look at maliostraps.

  11. There's only one gen bezel available now, http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1410464834/FS-+Submariner+6536-1-5508-6538+Complete+Bezel%2C+Mint+%21%21 I know him and can get you a better deal if you want. If I were you I would get an aftermarket bezel from minh q or phong and use a genuine insert.. Any old insert will do as long as it's a long 5 or kissing 40.. The red triangle ones are too expensive. Phong's bezel is 350$ if I'm not mistaken and its identical to the genuine ones with brass under the nickel plate.

  12. If you ask these questions, is it then really worth $1000 spent on a gen dial and movement mods? Imo, the noob is fantastic. Start with buying that, and if you can tell the difference between the noob and the gen dial - then make the investment. You can also send it on to Goin/Marlin later

  14. This is my "budget" Silix build. Specs: Case: Silix reshaped, drilled and tapped Bezel: Silix reshaped Bezel insert: Tiger Concept aged Crown: Athaya 8mm Dial: HR relumed and textured Hands: Minute and Hour (HR) aged and polished, Second (OnlinestoreHK) painted Movement: 2824 clone TY2130 (Cousins UK) Plexi: Sternkreuz 30.6 HW Bracelet: Gen 7206 Rivet All work by me. Maybe a contender in the "budget" category :-)

  15. I can't say I have a favorite as I love all my 17 vintage rollies, but I'll put my 1016 on the table as the case reshaping job was not an easy task..... And rather exciting to do ! See all pics and specs here : http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/169685-rolex-1016-built-mod-a-jmb-case-to-gen-specs-lots-of-pics/?hl=%2Brolojack+%2B1016#entry1333458

  16. Hey everyone Had a breakthrough yesterday. Seller has offered a refund. Possibly a chat with MoaB convinced him (I am in your debt my friend). Thanks for all your advice, and thankyou Daniel (P4GTR) for the offer of a replacement strap and for all the offers of help fixing the dial movement issue. I'm sure one day the time will come for me to open a watch and make an embarrassing mess of the insides, but for today I'm gonna take the money !-D In the end, this has turned out to be a really positive experience. Getting involved in the group, albeit to sort out a dispute, has convinced me that it's a good place to hang around. I'll be back, old and smarter. And once I get my loot returned I'll be on the hunt for a good B&R rep. Advice welcome! R
