  1. Holy schmolies, that thing is SPECTACULAR! Gorgeous, gorgeous build. And the lug curves on that case are to die for. Seriously. You know that scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark when they open the Ark and gaze inside? Yeah that's how I feel looking at your photos.

  2. Here we go. Dbane just sent me some pics. I know I should wait, but wanted to share with my brothers. Needless to say I am amazed at his work. I will do a full write up and photo shoot soon. Probably when I get back from vacation. Sent from my droptop using telepathy [emoji466]️

  3. I recommend this because it has worked for me on Oyster casebacks, gen and rep. you need super glue, isopropyl alcohol, a socket and a ratchet. glue the socket head to the caseback with the super glue, attach the ratchet and simply remove the caseback. Once the caseback is off, soak it in isopropyl for several minutes (15-30) to remove the socket head and then wipe the remaining super glue off (it will have turned to a gel from the alcohol soak. This absolutely works and it works everytime and the glue will absolutely come off with enough soaking in alcohol. Good luck

  5. I have the stock PT on mine and I am really happy with it. The pearl is great and the insert is the thin service replacement style numbers, so it matches up with the gen 703 that I have on it - during that "service" the crown and insert were replaced. LOL. I haven't aged it and I am just letting it age naturally on its own.

  9. Saw this over there. Too funny. Sometimes you just have to wonder...what the **** people are thinking. I guess I could sell a couple parts off my 6538 so I can buy an Omega to be a WIS[emoji50]. You run into this on the Corvette forums too. The purist/elitist. I remember having a discussion with a guy about a 66 Roadster I built and he was kind of dissing me for using a few aftermarket parts...but my car is faster than yours, handles better than yours, is easier to service and actually runs.... 12. Willem, as nice this hobby is, the more you read about the franken builds of other members, not only about the Submariner but all other, the more you will recognize when a rep has reached "super" status. You´ve got a nice Sub but that is just an out of the box solution. Take your time and read a couple of threads about how people have build their frankens. It is very important to understand the process and what it takes, from who to order what, where to search for parts etc. It is a knowledge no one can summarize in a post. I suggest to keep the Sub and to start a forum research, learn from the experience of the members, ask questions ... then start collecting parts for a Super-rep. A Super-rep is the one you have build with a fair amount of genuine parts, or some modder built for you. In the sales corner there are some high class sales from time to time, but these are serious budget franken builds, they are hard to sell, because prices are close to a genuine watch and there is a slight psychological barrier that prevents potential buyers from paying that much for a franken watch. On the other hand when gathering parts for a franken watch, you would be spending a lot as each part gen or aftermarket is expensive and piece by piece it raises the budget very fast. Before you buy anything more you better research what a certain watch has to look like, like the misaligned rehaut you have for example. By then you`d know from what parts a certain watch was built from, by only looking at the sales pictures. Have fun, be very very patient and good luck!

  13. Cutting the feet of a $1500 dial so that you can Velcro it to a $100 movement that's plopped into a $200 rep case is not smart. Jut buy a few ETA clones that could work for a cal 15xx and drill away with a 1.2-1.3mm bit. Cutting feet on your gen dial is not an option Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
