  2. Pfffffft. See, that case says "steal me, I'm full of expensive stuff". Here's MY watch box, which also doubles as a watch winder. Nobody's gonna steal one of these.

  3. The case can well be a heavily mod'ed 114060 case. The rehaut engraving is a possible tell. I am one of humble beginnings, even if I could just drop 25k on a watch, I would much rather spend Less than 1k and build something to my unique taste and save the rest. This is just me of course. The combination of parts and overall design are great, but not unique. E

  4. Mendota, the other thing you can do if opening them up does not quite work is to sand down the curved area on the top of the end link where it touches the case. If the hole is lining up too far away from the case this may help. On my 1016, I have WSO 580's and the end link hole placement was a little farther away from the case lug holes than I would like, so took some sandpaper to the curve and shortened the length ever so slightly and now they fit perfect. I have used a dremel for this but found the best results using wet/dry sandpaper by hand.

  5. You must be trolling... Doesn't hurt a thing? I do a lot of Judo Chops when I'm walking around and the only thing that is keeping my $7000 watch from kissing the pavement is the springbars...

  8. 6536/1, you got it! Not a perfect dial by any stretch but has character and I love it!!

  9. The 6538 HR that I got in the raffle had a domed sapphire. It was pretty damn nice, the dial on this one is nicer... but not like $24,000 nicer. Even with a genuine Rolex movement you can pick up for $2,000.00 -

  14. Maybe it's a matter of translation and what not, but I don't think any of us are in the position to 'demand' anything. We can ask... Nicely. And if Rolli is willing to listen to constructive criticism about his dials (not criticism against his character), then maybe that is something he can consider. I know that he and FGD have been working on these projects for a very, very long time; I am very thankful that they are offering these dials to us forum members for our own personal watches. Yes, I am an indirect recipient of a 201/A dial, and yes, I am very pleased with it. I do realize that there may be details and minutiae on this particular 000 dial in which some individuals may view as incorrect (and they very well may be; I am not as well versed in modern Panerai as I would like to be, so I won't comment on that), but if we want the dial offerings to continue, I think we can be a little gracious and respectful to someone who is providing us as a whole with something to improve our watches as a kind gesture and not because they are obligated to. I would sure hate to have the door closed on us collectively because things went sideways while discussing fine details. I think a little gratitude can go a long way... And if a dial isn't to your liking, simply don't buy it. I think one thing to keep in mind is that production over the years and across model references have some interesting and crazy variations. I give Rolli and FGD a lot of credit for not only making the attempt to take on a project of this magnitude (and for so many different models), but for really knocking it out on the dials that they've done thus far.

  17. I have never been a fan of converted 2836's w/GMT add on. If you are doing a vintage Rolex project, I have had great success with the DG3804. It is a purpose built chinese automatic GMT. I was able to drop one in a GEN 1675 with nothing more than an adapter ring (stilty or Yuki). Also, the date wheel on the DG3804 magically aligned with "plexi/acrilc" era Rolex dials. Finally, this is lower beat which is more correct on vintage Rolex, and correct hand stack for 6542/1675. So to be clear, on the hacked together 2836, there are a lot of mods required to Rolex'ize it, and as a result reliability is a crap shoot.

  18. I recommend you go custom leather. It transforms the watch completely. Here are two ABP Paris 23mm straps on my Chopards:
