"IF SOMEONE HAS 5513/12 BUILD OUT OF 1680 CASE, PLEASE POST THEM HERE ! THANK YOU!" You may not be able to tell by looking. For instance, I have an MBK '5512' made out of an MBK '5512' case that is exactly the same as an MBK '1680' case. Also have an MBK '5513' in an MBK '5513' case that is also identical to the MBK '1680' and '5512' case in every way. They are exactly alike but you must use a thicker 1680 date movement to make a '5512/13' out of one. They are basically oem 1680 spec with a dial window/dial seat cut for a 26.0mm 5512/13 dial. Have a few old (15 year old) Abay 1680 cases (close to the same as many of today's cartel cases) and they all had swiss eta 2836 no matter if the watch was a 5513/14, 1680, or 1665. Only difference was the He valve and bezel. All are made for a 26.5mm to 28.0mm dial because they have a 26.0mm dial window with an oversize 28.0mm dial seat. The He valves are oem spec and the case back gasket groove is cut in the case like a 1665. The point is they all look exactly alike but may be 5513/14/1680, or 1665 with only a thicker bezel. There are 4 basic types of 1680 cases: 1...Genuine. A 1680 mvt/dial combo will not work in a 5512/13 case and 5512/13 mvt/dial combo will not work in a 1680 case. 2...Yuki, Phong etc. High grade cases made to oem specs. The 1680 and 55xx cases are different, (internally at least) with different dial seats/dial windows/location of case tube center (maybe). Do not know if the movement/dial combo thickness difference is made up in the front of the case or the back side. 3...Cartel. Not 100% accurate to genuine and not always the same from one order to the next from the same dealer or between dealers. May use the same case for 1680 date watches and no date 5512/13 watches by using the same basic movement with or without the date works and same diameter dials. Swiss or clone Eta 2836 for instance. 4...Specialty. 'Out of oem spec' cases such as DW, MBK etc. See the sticky above.1 point

Thank you Jack, read your 5513 build blog, very informative. I also have Clark plexi installed and it does indeed make the rehalt ring fatter like a loop distortion, will change it to SK and see how that looks. Very good tip about the bracelet! All those good parts and things in the US and we cannot get them in EU all gets stopped by the customs those blockade rules man, same goes for things from China. Or at least partly FAUX (2 hands so one should be Faux)....is there an issue with the minute counter on 9 also? " Another flaw is the ridiculous split second hand on the 3 o'clock register. I don't know why they didn't do this like the PAM flyback reps where they just stack the hands so at least when the chrono is not moving it looks accurate. "1 point

I received mine last week but was unable to post due to technical issues. Anyway a little late, a big thank you to @sputim for organising this and @dbane883 for sharing his discovery.1 point

"They should make 15xx movement replicas too." +1 Or at least a good quality slow beat movement the right size that would accept oem spec dials, date wheels, and hands...along with a no date version.1 point

You have no idea how great that picture is to a new guy. I searched high and low for something that gave an oversight of vintage Pams a couple of months back. I know three of the guys you name and they are not only really good at their craft, but really terrific guys as well. I've heard good things about Black Shark and Pratt, but don't know much about them. Fancy doing a build thread on that beauty? Yes please, pretty please? I have a nasty nasty feeling this is going to cost me money before the year is out. I've already spoken to Bigwaved about buying some dials down the line. Trouble is it starts out real innocent. I wanted a Rolerai, but then I wanted the 6154, then I wanted cream, brown and near black dials, and then........1 point

Sure ;-) I can help. It starts with an idea. Think of what type of dial and case you want. Look at builds you like or always wanted for ideas. Here is a little quick guide to Panerai cases and looks. Takes a case set, I usually purchase from River. He has most vintage styles. Ebay is good too ;-) or buy through m2m for parts. Then your favorite dial maker to make your idea come to life, bigwaved, black shark, Pratt, Nastas, belkin, or pvirus. There are many others just a few I heard about. Buy a movement like a 6497 for manual wind Panerai with seconds at 9 o'clock. Buy a nice pair of hands to go with the dial you designed. Last but not least a perfect strap to go with your build. Here is an idea that I'm working on to get built soon. A Metri style dial with a twist. Sent this to a dial maker with a radioactive theme. Told him to to try and get a nice gradient using warm colors red orange yellow He came back with this model And after the dial gets completed I will work on getting the perfect case, hands and strap. I can send videos on how to assemble and disassemble if anyone wants. Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkFor more advanced builds there is aging, case shaping, plexi choices, hands aging ... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It takes a little practice but after you do your first build you will be hooked. For more advanced builds there is aging , case shaping , plexi choices Kploy is the man for that, hands aging ( look up boiled egg trick for that) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

According to my little chart, hand sizes for the 1030 and 1570 movement are the same- 80/130/20, so you should be ok with those hands. Only catch on a 1016 is you need a longer minute hand- like 1mm longer maybe- 13mm vs the 12mm which is standard like on a sub. Don't know if Rafflestime or Helenarou has the long minute hand in a Rolex size. Clark's would be another suitable supplier to check out. I think these are Clarks hands on my 1016. I have a Swiss 2824-2 in there and built this watch 5 or 6 years ago. A slightly longer minute hand would have been better.1 point

"28.5? This last batch of cases I have might take one of these. When I first started modding these cases the "dial seat" was about 28.25mm and a gen movement probably wouldn't fit. The later cases (past year maybe?) have a dial seat of a little over 29mm so the gen movement might fit. I really don't know as I've never had a gen movement to play with..." I tried a no date 1570 in a last edition JMB case and the movement goes in with plenty of room to spare. A genuine spec 27.9mm OD x .4mm thick 1016 dial will need to be carefully centered and solidly mounted in the 27.3mm JMB dial window so the spacer will have to be precision made. You could make a dummy movement out of aluminum to use for fitting and making spacers etc. 1570 no date http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&0&2uswk&Rolex_1570 Same as 1520/1530/1560/1570. 1575 date http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&0&2uswk&Rolex_1575 Same as all 'time and date' 15xx movements. From the Ranfft rolex 1570/75 charts: "Do = 28.5mm" is for 'Diameter overall' at 28.5mm. "Dm = 28.2mm" is for 'Diameter minimum' at 28.2mm. The main plate has a step down from the back side of the movement for about half the thickness of the main plate that is 28.2mm. This step will have no effect on our projects so 28.5mm is what we need.1 point

Here is mine 1016 build, took almost two years to finish it. 16013 case set reshaped by Rolojack, I can't find 16200 for good price, and gave up on that.. 1570 date movement - with date indicator seating. Gen stern dial Gen plexi Gen 1016 bezel Gen 7836 bracelet with 558b Endlinks. Rolojack did great job on this this one. Thanks, Gleb Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

If you are going for a NOS looking 1016, go for the JMB case. I prefer the worn looks so I don't really mind the naturally aged gen case. I built a couple of these a while back using a gen 1601 case and a JMB v1 case. I really liked the 1601 case even without enlarging the lug holes (but using shoulderless springbars). The yuki 7206 may fit better on the jmb case as well but looking at pics of the gen 7206 they do not fit well like modern oysters do today. If it was in my budget, I'd send it to Rolojack for case reshaping and refinishing. Here is a JMB v2 case with a yuki ETA dial. All rep except for the gen folded oyster and clasp.1 point
