  3. Almost midnight and it's still light out. This makes the Long Dark worth it.

  4. Be careful with buying anything from ofrei, especially hands. Hands you will get look nothing like in the photo and other watch parts look different with every order! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. I reposted a picture of a 'torn down' and stripped JF on RWI but it mysteriously got taken down. It is a bargain of a watch but it is definitely wokky. I thought it was just the crystal that was distorting it but it is not. The pic I saw was the stripped case with no crystal or bezel. It really is wokky but it is still a bargain for the price. Here is another pic I found:

  14. I always put a couple bends in the flat spring to make it look castellated, and put it on the retaining ring. Then I snap the insert into the bezel, then I snap the bezel onto the retaining ring, trapping the castellated flat spring in between.

  16. Retaining ring, tension washer, bezel, insert. That's the way the assembly should be layered when finished.

  20. Wearing my 1675 for the first time in ages, the GMT hand is already annoying me so looks like I'm going to have to pull it apart when I have time

  22. Really not sure about this one. I enjoyed trying it on at the local AP store a couple of years ago. Now it just seems like it fades into the ether. As if it has no voice or personality, or perhaps genuine originality. Maybe it's my sorta disdain for AP these days... Trends, clichés, fashion, new money... Yes the design is historic. Yes AP has a great story But like most things in this reality, money can buy you an AP or some other pedigree bespoke watch... But money cannot buy experience, patina, integrity, blah blah .... My rant is silly. Suffice it to say, I'd rather drive my air-cooled bat out of hell with all the right things wrong than drive a 2018 that any player with a big bank account can just go out and purchase. This watch belongs to which kind of mindset? I'm confused now! I guess that's what Hublot is for! To neuter the thirst for something original! The ups and downs of this hobby for 3 decades perhaps has got me twisted today!

  23. Shot this at the bay for the price of 7734 movement. I think it is out of the ordinary with its vibrant colors. Unfortunately after setting it a few times the date won't change anymore. Will have to open it up soon and make use of the chronograph course Inrecently started.

  24. 5 Years later from 2013 onward something must have changed (or P4GTr was using a bad TD selling dirty old movements back in 2008). DG2813 is a little, reliable, tough beater-movement and power workhouse; Because of posts like this I have a spare ETA2840, ETA2846, DG2813 - and haven´t used any of them! All my DG2813 are running strong after 3 Years, original from factory; I´m no watchsmith, just a user:) Power reserve: because of the lowbeat movement the power reserve is longer than on the asian ETA, it runs and runs and runs - well over 42 hours; Rotor: if it´s loud: tiniest black oiler and tiny drop of Moebius 9010 or Novostar type B Rotor, take 2: the first time You use a 2813 You will not be able to avoid it rotating endlessly; as soon as the wrist "adapts" itself to it You will have perfect control over when it spins or not; it´s a fact You will never get to this stage if You put it off as rubbish after a few hours to never wear again; Hacking, winding etc. all run fine on all of them and I have at least 5. Timekeeping adjustment is fiddly but doable if necessary (more than 30 seconds per day) I haven´t adjusted any of mine, the best runs at +- 1-2 seconds per day. Servicing: instead of servicing the DG2813 may be replaced by a factory-fresh sealed (and even better) replacement movement that costs $35 in 2016. Some will run for 10+ years without requiring anything. Seconds hand: sweeps at 5 ticks per second instad of 7 of the highbeat ETA2836. Not noticeable at arms length but if You concentrate and stare at it the ETA will have a smoother, better soothing performance. The ETA will give a higher quality feel on the wrist. The ETA comes at a higher price, irrelevant if You know exactly the watch You want - but too expensive when You first get the blue, than decide You want the green and ultimately discover that the one You really want should be black. The ETA is serviceable - in other words this means it sooner or later will require a service (at a significant cost in 2016). Have fun with the DG2813 and the asian ETAs - they both have their reason for existence and both are amongst the reliable movements imho.
