Received a vintage MN strap, it’s too wide for subs but I really like the military colour and look. The French soldiers were doing with what they had...2 points

As Yllekp said, there are many details even the Vietnam builders often get wrong that the "experts" pick up on, usually pertaining to the dial. It seems to me that the gen collectors are a bit more knowledgeable about these things since they are the ones dropping six figures on a small piece of metal and they can't afford to be wrong even once. With that said, I don't see the line between gen and rep being nearly as clear as most of the gen forum users pretend it to be. It's obvious that the gen collectors feel their exclusivity threatened by the high quality reps and posture as though the difference is night and day. For instance, have a look at the Rolex passion report, where this man claims to identify about 50 details in any rep dial, neatly marked with red dots, proving the watch is *FAKE!!* The problem is that there is some degree of variance in the gen watches and dials; no one at Rolex knew these watches would ever be collected or scrutinized to this degree. This writer, supposedly a notable expert, often contradicts himself as to what details are right or wrong, which, along with his atrocious English and extremely belabored writing style, certainly makes for an interesting psychological study.2 points

Don't mind the two SDs. This is a Sub thread. I have no idea how I got so obsessed by these. I had no interest in Rolex when I first joined the fora. So for your viewing pleasure / displeasure: Modded 6538, work done by @NCRich. Helenarou big_dazza modded dial. Modded 5512, this one I like playing around with. Franken 5513 built by @tripdog Franken TC 16610LV V6 originally built by BK I guess you would call this a SuperFranken 16803 built by my watchnaker, loads of help from the great members of RWI on this one. 16618 no idea who made it, it has a nice little 2836 inside. This was given to me by some kind members on RWI. Now the Ceramics. My first sub ever the Noob V2/ V5/ V5.1/ V6 No Date 114060 depending on which dealer or member you talk to. I just think of it as the one before the V6s. Hulk Noob V6s 116610LV, this may receive one or two mods. I have had too many Hulks but I have decided to keep this one. I like my Sunburst dials so here are two fantasy 116610s. Kindly given to me by @rwatch0 .1 point

I’ve been struggling to get hold of Adrian recently. Last spoke to him before Xmas and he’d said he was busy. Not had a reply since then so reckon he’s got a lot on at the moment. I used to have a BP SD that I had Ado do some work on. I had the same dial too. Gen Crystal, insert, crown and tube. Ado made it into a fantastic piece and he really knows his stuff! Here’s a picture. I ended up moving it along in the end as whilst I loved the dial, I never quite fell in love with the SD. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Never let a movement stop you from buying the watch you want. Movements are always replaceable if not repairable.1 point

The rep forum pays off again! Picked up a couple bottles of Grangestone 21 on sale this week. Great 21 year for the price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Now a 2892 with a custom adapter will fit perfectly and run just as well if not better and save you a few thousand quid. Just a thought. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Ephry73 is correct. It won't fit. You would need a 162xx case to use a 3135 (clone or gen). The 3035 is thicker above the stem position, and therefore the 3135 stem will be in the wrong spot to fit your case.1 point

No. The 3035 is closer in dimensions to a 2892. 3035 movements are also not cloned yet that I know of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

The initial r&d cost of a movement is high. The IWC PR movement cost factory $3m (18m RMB yuan) to rep. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
