Hello everybody. I'm still getting notifications and thus I'm visiting from time to time. But I must say my life has changed totally since I got sober (5 years ago) and broke (2 years ago) ! The brotherhood of RWG helped me a lot 2 years ago when I couldn't even imagine having a simple job back. You guys gave me a couple of watches and hundreds of euros that kept me alive till I found a job. I'm back on track, a radio presenter job during nights and weekends, still sober, publishing a blog about my alcoholism. I earn a very nice income, live in a nice flat and eat more than enough. I don't have the financial power to buy reps (and certainly not gens), but I'm more into spiritual living than I was before, so all is fine. Great to have news from you guys ! Keep safe, Stephane4 points

* Where I am in life... work is incredibly challenging, incredibly dangerous, and the b@stages keep trying to promote me out of the job I love to do. I have a good woman at my side, everything else is secondary. * Status of the collection... too dang many watches. I'm up to 18 and I'd be happy with 6, just the vintage gens. * Milestones... my daughter finally met a man I approve of and they were married. I walked her down the aisle, and whispered in his ear "tag, you're it". My boy is a firefighter in Kotzebue, above the arctic circle. I couldn't be prouder of him.2 points

Ok, I have been gone for far too long and with my daughter's 19th birthday today, I got to thinking about family. Not just immediate but everyone that has touched me and my family. I have spent a long time here and on the original board. Thousands of posts, dollars and communications have come and gone. But I have to tell ya, I miss the environment that was RWG! I have no idea who is still active or lurking, but let this post serve as a roll call to update us all on : Where you are in life Status of your collection Milestones or reasons to celebrate News you may have of other members no longer active etc, etc...... I miss you all and will always have a place in my heart and life for the members here at RWG. So let's go, don't be shy.....1 point

Thanks for chiming I’m Mark. why can’t we old geezers breathe some life back into this place? We all still enjoy watches correct? We all have life [censored] dumped upon us, we have work [censored] and family crap.....let us show the way back..... perhaps I poured too much Tito’s in my cup, but hey, I’m still a dreamer🤪1 point

"This is for the oldtimers on this board." I guess I qualify, 5-16-07. "Just wondering if anyone recognized this bezel." I have a Phong '1655' case from around 2010/2011 and it has a bezel with 'thin line' numbers but in the same font style as in your pics. I looked on a few rlx websites and bezels similar to mine were from around the late 1970s/early 1980s...probably. Yours looks more like an early 1970s style. Genuine or not I do not know but it is very good. Otoh I have a cartel '1655' from maybe 4 or 5 years ago that is 90% as good as the Phong case except for the case engraving and bezel numbers. The cartel dial is almost as good as many higher $$ rep dials too. I tried a genuine GMT/1655 movement with genspec 1655 dial in the cartel case and it will fit after machining the case a little bit but the dial is too small...27.3mm for genspec vs 28.0mm for the cartel dial. The genspec dial just barely fills the dial opening. Could put a 1575 GMT 'quickie conversion' in it with the cartel dial and have a cool fly-by 1655. 'Fly-by' GMT/1655 = looks good outside and under the hood but not under the dial. There are a lot of them out there, especially now with rlx parts cut off. This site always has a lot of genuine 1655 for comparison: https://www.hqmilton.com/timepieces/references/rolex-1655 'Fly-by' GMT/1655 info: https://rwg.cc/topic/168977-building-an-mbw-sub-shortcut-rlx-156070-gmt-conversions/page/2/#comments1 point

Congrats! Enjoy it. A nice thing too is that they sometimes appreciate in value. And, at the very least, they can always be resold and hold value. And in this day and age that isn’t a bad thing. When we were going to get married my wife asked what gen watch I wanted. I said Tudor Heritage Black Bay. Value for dollar, ya know? She vetoed that and got me a GMT Master II. I’m always grateful she didn’t listen to me lol [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I might be putting this for sale. It was my first major case restructuring. I love it...love to look at it. Just don't put it on and wear it.1 point

I'm still here. I don't post much. Feel like all the help, brotherhood and what not was all for nothing once I was banned from RWI. I'm a vendor over on RG now (US watchsmith). Things have changed so much. It'll be 13 years of membership here next month. Where's Lanikai?1 point

Check what I found at the bottom of the watch box. I haven’t worn this for 5+ years. Thank you covid and boredom for reuniting me with this little champ [emoji1374][emoji1362]1 point
