  2. An English man stopped at a local restaurant following a day roaming around in Andalucía. While sipping his Cervesa, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, the smell was wonderful. He asked the waiter, 'What is that you just served?' The waiter replied, 'Ah senor, you have excellent taste! Those are called Cojones de Toro, bull's testicles, from the bull fight this morning. A delicacy!' The man said, 'What the heck, bring me an order.' The waiter replied, 'I am so sorry senor. There is only one serving per day because there is only one bull fight each morning. If you come early and place your order, we will be sure to save you this delicacy.' The next morning, the man returned, placed his order, and that evening was served the one and only special delicacy of the day. After a few bites, inspecting his platter, he called to the waiter and said, 'These are delicious, but they are much, much smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday.' The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, 'Si, Senor, sometimes the bull wins.’

  4. Hi all, had a note from Andrew @ Trusty today confirming that his stock of 45's no longer has the Liquid Metal flaw and that they have been updated with double AR. This watch is now topping my upgrade list!!!

  6. Imho this watch deserves a thread since it's the only rep dial which has been modded to have a tropical look. I've done quite a bit of research on no crown guards Submariners lately. A thought was building a franken by using Phong's midcase, ETA 2846, Minq dial... Well maybe in sooner or further future. I ended up getting this a lot more inexpensive version of the 6538. A Phong franken would've easily set me 1800€ back if not even more. At first when it arrived yesterday I thought hmm cool watch but I'm not really feeling the love. I was sitting at the dining table and was opening the parcel when a light ray was shining inside.. And there I saw it. This was awesome, everything I was hoping for when I bought this watch. The tropical dial has got so many facets depending on different lighting and surrounding. It's simply astonishing. Ingredients: Cartel 6538 Sub with clone 2836 movement Sternkreuz Tropic shaved to correct height and fitted Athaya Brevet crown and tube (case redrilled to fit Athaya tube into the case) Lug holes drilled to accept gen spec spring bars Hands and dial relumed Dial aged and treated to a tropical brown Insert aged Case aged and polished Rivet bracelet Hope you liked it

  8. Music has been a huge part of my upbringing from a very young age, be it starting with my days in the grade school church choir and listening to 80's R&B and Soul. My parents listened almost exclusively to oldies music, but my dad was also a fan of early prog like Pink Floyd, YES, and Rush. Used to really dig hanging out in the basement with my dad, black lights and incense rolling pretty heavily to any Floyd album of our choice... And then my cousin took me to my first heavy metal concert in the 6th grade, and my life was pretty much changed 180 degrees. I still listen to classic R&B and soul from time to time, but ever since that summer my heart has belonged to the heavy stuff... Ever since high school I have been pretty deep into the Scandinavian metal, listening to classics like At the Gates, Hellhammer, Dark Tranquility, etc. My interests are all over the extreme scenes, and I listen to Black metal, Death metal, and everything in between. However I still lean mostly towards the progressive bands in these areas, harkening back to the days spent listening to Floyd and Rush in the basement with dad... My favorite band of all time is Opeth, and I just love the way that they can hover between extreme death metal and manage to make their way to a 70's prog sound, then back to modern death again. Metal for life, eh?

  10. Nice, but still not the complete answer, I think. My 1675 is gilt, and has gone tropical, but the black of the dial is as brown as my non-gilt 1665, and here's the odd part: the lettering is definitely gilt but it's a bright brassy gilt, not the deep rich orange/honey gilt like my 6536. And take a close look, there are apparent "water drop" marks where it left "gilt droplets" on the brown background (this is why the dial was surrendered to the A.D.) It's almost like it leaked and the droplets affected the lacquer. But how would that reduce the opacity/tint of the background base paint? I definitely agree it would affect the lacquer's gloss finish.

  11. It's a diff kind of tropical it seems, mostly when the lacquer turned yellow it was the gilt writing and track that was affected turning it orange, which we see a lot, I guess the tropical ones have something extra special going on

  12. Massive metal fan here too. My tastes have changed over the years, my first love was Black Sabbath and Metallica, then I moved into heavier harcore stuff like As I Lay Dying, Parkway Drive, All Shall Perish and Unearth etc. Now I enjoy most heavy music but am really into interesting (some would say obscure and weird!) stuff from the likes of Finntroll, Alestorm and Amon Amarth. My favorite band of all time has to be In Flames, they have gone off the boil a bit recently but the early stuff is mind blowing. Rock on fellas!
