Maybe I should start adding random nude pics in posts, so that you can't browse the site at work and start receiving "kick-backs" from the different employers around the world

Well, Vic. I'm afraid we would actually loose a lot more members and people would get A LOT more suspicious looks from their colleagues/boss/etc. if we start displaying "Sexy men near you" and naked guys in the ads

I seriously doubt that these ads will perform that well over time, but it is worth a shot. Oh, and just to ad this: No personal information about you or you location is revealed. The ads uses your ip-address to locate where you are and then displays the appropriate text wich is the nearest city. It uses the same technology as the signature some of the members here use;

Ahem...let's not go there in this thread. There are many members who have donated to the forum and have prefered this instead of an upgrade. Besides, I appreciate feedback on these things, from all members. If I didn't, I would just have posted this and closed the thread

Well, to put things in perspective: I acccidentalyy activated these ads after doing some changes to the google ads last week. They stayed online for about 6-7 hours. Those 6-7 hours generated the same revenue as the google ads usually do in 1-2 weeks.

Pugwash suggested this last week and I am looking into if and how this can be done.

Dear members Because of the recent events with paypal and closed accounts, we are still strugling with the economics and it looks like we will be doing this for a while ahead. The ratio of members who select to re-upgrade their memberships after they have been cancelled by paypal is still very low. That being said, let's not start another discussion about membership upgrades and who should, who has not and who has. This thread is for information about the ads and for feedback on this particular issue. I will post more about that in a new thread and you can post in this thread if you feel you have anything to contribute with Because of this, we are going to try out some new ads here at RWG. One of them was activated by accident about a week ago and it looks like these kind of ads are more "interesting" than the regular google ads, judging by the number of clicks it got. This ad is more of an adult oriented ad, but it's still PG, but might not be concidered work safe by some of the members. It will be a mix of google ads and the example below that will be shown from now on. Other ads might be added to the mix also. This is, as I said, just a test, and I will run these ads for at least 14 days to see the development. If these ads doesn't generate more revenue than the google ads, they will be removed. If you ask me, this is so much more than a watch forum....It's "supposed" to be a watch forum, but it's also a lot of other things. Guess that's the way we llike it. We are mainly here to share our passion for watches, but it obvious that the memebrs appreciate sharing other things than just watches also, wich makes this place even better

The reason these posts no longer excists is because We've had to change our upgrade system. So all the old posts have been removed and is awaiting replacement by new and updated posts

As I have said before, in a similar thread: This function is based on a cookie placed on your computer. It then uses the time-stamp in this cookie to calculate wich post have not been read since your last visit. If you start browsing the forum, it will place a new cookie/new timestamp on your computer and when you then click the "New posts" it will only show oyu the new posts since your last visit...wich was a couple of minutes ago. If this happens again, you can clikc the "View new posts" and then, at the bottom right corner, you can use the "View active topics" feature, that will give you all the active topics for today, this week, etc. That will give you an overview of the latest posts, depending on when you last visit was here.

We have a set amount to use every month. I was given a choice of 100GB of traffic pr. month or 300GB pr. month from the ISP we are currently using. Currently we use anything between 150-200GB each month, so we still have some available.
