Cannot see new posts in Week-end wrist check
Admin replied to Stephane's topic in Introduction/Rules/Support
Should be ok now. -
Well, guess I should thank you for upgrading my membership. Never thought I could get any higer than Admin....This new God status is kinda cool.....I wonder what this button does
-
Of course, if this doesn't fix things, we then send TwoTone to "fix" things
-
These things happen sometimes. Looks like it's a bug in the forum software. Just send yourself a new PM and then delete it. That usually takes care of things.

This function is cookie-based. Depending on settings on your computer, the "New-post"-counter can be reset if you surf on other RWG pages/threads/topics before you click the "View new posts"-link. So basically, to be safe, the first thing to do when you enter RWG is to click "View new posts". Another explanation is that the first number you saw was a cached version of the page, stored in your browsers cache.

Do a search for finepics. Don't remember the details, but he's been sick and injured his back badly, so he hasn't been online for a while.

This is common on several board, to hide the "real" names. This is to make the site less visible on the search engines when they crawl the site. That way, the site will get less hist when people seach for the brand name, wich of course is written without the *. Edit to add: RWG used to be highly visible on the search engines. I've taken some measures so that we are not that visible. Because of this you will now only get about 2000 hits when you do a google-search for rwg.cc. Last month the number was 36000

Damn...I wasn't even aware that the board was stagnating....Guess I miss things like that when I have to read pages of new posts every day
-
No, you are not. The feed is only delivering posts from the General section.

Could one of the members who have received a PM from this guy please forward us his member name here at RWG?

RWG at warp speed again at last
Admin replied to crystalcranium's topic in Introduction/Rules/Support
Give it a day or two. The current DNS setup is only temporary to be able to move the server faster -
Looks like it might be time to close this thread....

Might be easier to provide just a single link? What should we look for here?

Why should people be afraid of posting their experiences? Nobody has never been banned from this forum for sharing their experiences, good or bad. Joe posted the full name of one of the moderators and this is not allowed and was the reason for his ban. We have rules here and we expect them to be followed and Joe is perfectly aware of this: [5]- NEVER use the REAL name or any other info that can reveal the real identity of other members. If you feel like posting your full real name, please do so, but unless you have a written permission to post somebody elses name, DON'T! I don't think anybody has ever said that Joe was all bad. We all know people have good and bad experiences. But there is a pattern here that new members should be aware of and that was the point of my post. I think you've hit the nail on the head with that post, Eddie. Nobody has ever denied the fact that Joe did some good work, but fact that there is a big chance that Joe will get sick while he has your watch and it will take him a long time to return it has been proven over and over again by several members and this is what I think it is important for people to concider if they decide to send a watch to him. Robi, it's not a good idea to post while drunk. I thought you had learned your lesson hehe...funny comaprison, but none the less true.

No ill feelings here. I am just posting the facts as I see them

I'm going to add my thoughts to this, as this is the 4th or 5th "Joe"-thread I've seen since the RWG2 started 1 year ago. You can all go ahead and post your personal experiences and there is no doubt that many members have had good experiences with Joe. But to be honest, I would not recommend anyone to send their watches to Joe, based on the many bad experiences posted, both of his work and the time it takes for him to finish his work and return watches. Even the time it takes for him to return watches without finishing work, when members request their watches back. What I find strange about this whole saga is that Joe seems to be communicating just fine with some members and not so good/not at all with others. His work varies from good to horrible and his return time seems to be anything from 1 week to a couple of years. Every time these threads appear, there is the same old "battle" between those who had good experiences and those who has bad experiences. It also seems that it is when these things surface in the public forums that Joe has the time to actually address these issues. Well, let me share something with you; the last time a "Joe"-thread appeared, I got contacted by several members who did not dare to post their experience with Joe. The reason was that he still had their watches. They had tried numerous times to e-mail him, PM him and even called him, but got nothing. Because of these reasons I would not recommend sending you watch to Joe. Even if he did wonderful work on all watches, it just no good when you don't get your watch back for several months. @denisgold I must say that I am a bit stubled about your activity in this thread and your defense of Joe, especially concidering what you wrote in a similar thread regarding another watch modifier, Finepics; Interesting to see that the very same thing Joe did, is OK for Joe to do, but not for others. Joe has been "sick" many times, but in some way he managed to post ads to Ebay, but not reply to his clients. Bad form, if you ask me. The point here is that if you send your watch to Joe is that you MIGHT risk not getting your watch back for several months and experience no communications at all. You might risk that Joe gets sick again! This has now happened several times and because of this I would not recommend any members to send their watches. But this is just my personal reflections on the threads I have read about this and the PM's/e-mails I have received from members. Any member is of course free to do their own research, read the threads about Joe and make up their own mind. I think we should maybe set up a new thread that members can post "anonymously" in about their experience, because there are so many members out there that won't post about it in the open forum. I think we might set up a thread where anybody can post, but the minute they post, the post is only visible for the admin staff here. Maybe this way we will finally be able to get a real picture of how big this problem really is.

Just an update for you on this. I am testing out various datacentres in different areas of the world where it is of interest to place the server. It looks like this will take slightly longer than I thought, so you will have to bare with the current server and connectivity problems for a while longer.
-
The site is on a dedicated server, so that's not the problem. The problem seems to be the poor connectivity to the datacentre in Malaysia. Hopefully this will be solved within the end of the weekend.

Happy birthday

Stay away from OSCommerse. Lots of security issues. Zen also has a lot of issues, but they are not as bad as the OSCommerce ones. If you need any local help, Dani, just PM me your phone number and I'll give you a call
